What is the Storyline of Drishyam 2?
This movie is a continuation of Ajay Devgn’s criminal thriller Drishyam, which was released in 2015. Drishyam was a remake of a Malayalam film starring Mohanlal that had the same name and was dubbed into Hindi. The sequel to the film originally made in Malayalam was released in February of the previous year. The plot revolves around a family of four, the lives of which are turned upside down after a terrible event occurs involving the oldest daughter.
In February 2021, shortly after the debut of the first movie, production on the remake began, and it was completed in the same calendar year as the first picture. Every actor from the prior production was brought back for this one, and Khanna and Shukla were the only newcomers.
The film’s principal photography began in February 2022 and continued through June 2022 before coming to a finish. Goa served as the setting for the majority of the filming, however it was also shot in Mumbai and Hyderabad. Devi Sri Prasad is responsible for composing the score for the movie.

Drishyam 2, based on a Malayalam thriller, begins with Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay Devgn) leaving a police station with a shovel. Seven years ago, the almost-perfect crime had a witness, giving the authorities reason to reopen the Sameer Deshmukh missing-case inquiry.
Vijay, a theatre owner, wants to make a film from his narrative. His teenage daughter Anu (Mrunal Jadhav) and elder daughter Anju (Ishita Dutta) are still traumatised. His family, including his wife Nandini (Shriya Saran), is living normally but on alert. With a constant fear. A shocking revelation upends the Salgaonkars’ lives.
As the plot unfolds, Vijay’s community begins to doubt his guilt. The film picks up when Inspector General of Police Tarun Ahlawat (Akshaye Khanna) and Sameer’s mother, former IG Meera (Tabu), begin their inquiry. They pursue leads without underestimating the protagonist this time.
Like the previous, directed by Nishkant Kamat, Abhishek Pathak starts slowly. As he builds tension, the family’s fear is palpable. Every character has a role in the inquiry, adding drama and tension.
Ajay Devgn is a loving father with a smart mind. Akshaye Khanna, who played a cop in Mom and Ittefaq, gives these intense scenes gravity. Tabu shines as Meera, a mother seeking justice for her kid. As her husband, Rajat Kapoor excels. Kamlesh Sawant returns as Gaitonde, still cruel and vengeful. Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, and Mrunal Jadhav play other Salgaonkars. Saurabh Shukla as writer Murad Ali solves the riddle.
Aamil Keeyan Khan and Abhishek Pathak skillfully adapt Jeethu Joseph’s story. They skillfully weave several strands to a great finish with many surprises that matches the first film. While the first was novel, the sequel intrigues and entertains. The tale is mostly unpredictable, but several setups and situations are excessively artificial. However, sequels to successful first parts with majority of the same cast are difficult.

Sahi Galat, Amitabh Bhattacharya’s credits and title song, is cheerful. Saath Hum Rahein’s leisurely pace perfectly captures familial love. Rockstar DSP’s background score enhances the drama. Like its predecessor, Drishyam 2 keeps you gripped with plenty of twists and turns. The Salgaokar narrative will endure.
The acting, script, cinematography, and editing were all singled out for high appreciation by reviewers. Within six days of its release in India, the film had already broken into the 100 Crore Club, having earned over 1 billion (US$13 million) in box office revenue.
It has earned a total of 339.62 crore (about US$43 million) in ticket sales around the world as of 4 January 2023. As of 2022, it is the third highest-grossing Hindi film, and the 37th highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
