What If…? is one of the MCU shows that has made us think the most in a long time. It started on Disney+ in 2021 and ran for nine episodes before The Watcher said, “You thought the story was over, but it was only the beginning.” What If…? has a great ending that leaves a lot of room for more episodes that could go in any direction.
Based on the Marvel Comics series What If…?, the animated show looks at the different alternate timelines in the multiverse and shows what will happen to people who try to mess with it. Along with the interesting character of The Watcher, the series was worth watching because it had many interesting what-if scenarios, like what if Captain Carter was the first Avenger or what if Ultron won?
Marvel Studios has already picked up the show for a second and third season, which makes sense when you think about what the multiverse has to offer. We don’t know much about the third season yet, but here’s what we do know about season 2 of What If…?
When Will What If Season 2 Come Out?
The second season of What If…? will start in early 2023. Even though we’re getting close to that time, we don’t have a more specific date yet. As the first season of What If…? was coming out, it was announced that there would be a second season. Now, head writer A.C. Bradley has said that the second season will start on Disney Plus in 2022.
It’s a good sign that the second set of episodes was being planned while the first season was still being made. One idea was even moved to the other set of episodes, which shows that development is well underway.
“As you know, it takes a long time to make an animated movie. Mark Winderbaum, a producer at Marvel Studios, told Collider, “We were lucky to get the go-ahead for a second season early enough to be able to release it next year.” “We’ll see how things go. Obviously, I don’t want to tell the future in this new world we live in, but we plan to make it an annual release.”

At the moment, we don’t know when it will come out. With Ms Marvel and She-Hulk coming out in the summer for Marvel, What If…? is probably going to come out at the end of 2023.
Who is Coming Back for What If Season 2?
The Watcher, whose voice is done by Jeffrey Wright, will be back for season two to tell more stories that break the rules of reality. But who else will be there?

What Will Happen in Season 2 of What If?
The second season of What If…? could go almost anywhere since it is made up of different stories. Expect a mix of MCU remixes, like Captain Carter, and adaptations of popular Elseworlds stories, like what was done with Marvel Zombies.
There’s a good chance that some of the franchise’s newer heroes and villains will be in the spotlight this time, too.
The show’s head writer, A.C. Bradley, told Entertainment Weekly, “There will be all new stories, a lot of fun, new heroes, and more from Phase Four than we were able to use this season.”
“Hopefully, we’ll see hints of characters like the Eternals, Shang-Chi, and Black Widow. What If…? is fun because it lets us explore the whole infinite multiverse, so we try to jump around as much as possible.”

We now know a few of the stories that will be told in season 2 thanks to the Marvel animation panel at San Diego Comic-Con. We’ll probably see a story in which Hela is involved, Captain Carter meets the Winter Soldier, and Odin fights The Mandarin.
