Why Women Kill Season 3: Release Date, Cast, and More!
Season 3 of Why Women Kill has been a delicious summer treat for Paramount+ subscribers for the previous two years.
While the first season of the show focused on the murderous inhabitants of a certain Pasadena, California mansion over several decades, the second season took a different approach by focusing on the battle for control of a high-class California gardening club in the 1940s, which took place in a single town and time period.
Family strife, soap opera romances, and flashy, well-dressed high-camp dark humor with that signature Marc Cherry campiness were all featured in both seasons. You’ll either laugh at the characters’ antics… or cry at their follies if you watch both seasons of “Why Women Kill.” It’s possible that you’ll do both at the same moment.
Now that the second season is coming to a close, let’s take a look at what we know about the possibility of a third season. First and foremost, is it actually happening? Second, what will Season 3 be about, and who will appear in it, considering the significant contrast between Seasons 1 and 2? Here’s what we know so far.

When Will the Third Season of Why Women Kill Be Released?
As of this writing, “Why Women Kill” has not been renewed for a third season. Paramount+ usually renews or cancels its summer programming within a few weeks of the final episode airing on the streaming site.
The show was renewed for a second season (via Variety) in mid-October of last year, on the same day that the season’s final episode was released, so a decision is likely soon. Fans will hopefully learn shortly whether “Why Women Kill” will be renewed for a third season.
The episode was filmed over the winter months of 2020 and then into 2021 last year due to certain Covid-19-related limits in California at the time the show was picked up. If “Why Women Kill” is renewed in October and production proceeds smoothly, the show’s third season will most likely premiere in the early summer of the following year. Season 3 looks to take place around the same period as Season 2, which aired from June to July.
It’s also possible that, like last season, Paramount+ may put the show on hold and air it from late August until mid-October. Until a renewal is formally announced, it’ll be a guessing game.

What Stars Will Appear In The Third Season Of Why Women Kill?
Because the show’s third season has yet to be greenlit, we don’t yet have a cast for it — and now that Season 2 has established a rule that each new season will include a fresh collection of characters and a new premise, it’s unlikely that the characters from either season would continue over to the third.
For this new season, it’s easy to imagine a whole new generation of California divas taking center stage, complete with all-new problems and murders to clean up after.
For the time being, we’ll refrain from speculating about the play’s plot and setting, but we’d like to see more theatre divas on the show – Patti LuPone or Audra McDonald, for example – However, no celebrities have yet confirmed their participation in the third season, so stay tuned for further information.
What Will The Third Season Of Why Women Kill Be About?
Due to the anthology nature of the overall series and the intentional lack of an overarching storyline that connects previous seasons to the latest, no plot details for the third season of “Why Women Kill” has been announced, and there’s no way to know what themes or characters it may tackle at this time.
Instead, it’s more fun to speculate about the age range that the show will cover. Cherry’s next province may be single ladies, as the show’s focus has thus far been on desperate housewives. So far, the show has been through the 1950s, 1940s, 1980s, and present-day – what century will it travel through next? Maybe the Roaring Twenties?
Will someone go to great lengths to become a carefree flapper? Will we go back in time to investigate cults and killings in the 1960s? Is a 1970s adventure with drugs, cake, and glitter in the works?
Everything will be up to Marc Cherry’s imagination, and whatever twist he comes up with for his latest set of murderous, fashionable, desperate divas will definitely be amusing to see.
