Who is Carl Lentz?

Stephen Carl Lentz, who was born on November 6, 1978, is a former American pastor. GQ categorized Carl Lentz as a popular priest due to his status as a celebrity pastor and spiritual advisor to celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Kendall Jenner, and Selena Gomez.

He served as the senior pastor of Hillsong New York City until November 4, 2020, when he was fired by Hillsong Global Pastor Brian Houston for “leadership challenges, breaches of trust, and a recent disclosure of moral shortcomings.” The ex-nanny of Lentz’s children accused him of anguish, misuse of authority, and sexual assault on May 31, 2021.

Carl Lentz was born in Williamsburg, Virginia, and reared there. From 1998 to 2000, he attended North Carolina State University and participated on the school’s men’s basketball team as a walk-on. He moved to Los Angeles as an adult to attend The King’s College and Seminary.
