From the blockbuster flick Incredibles 2 to the inspiring film Ratatouille, Reddit users discuss the most overrated Pixar films.
1. Turning Red (2022)
One of Pixar’s most entertaining flicks, Turning Crimson has red pandas, fashionable aunts, and an adorable boy band. Mei Lee is a Chinese-Canadian student who strives to satisfy her parents at every opportunity. Mei discovers that, like her female relatives, she transforms into a colossal red panda anytime she experiences intense emotions.
Turning Red has won acclaim from critics for its cultural diversity and well-written coming-of-age narrative. However, Reddit user Wheatles BiteAlbum disagrees, stating that the film contains a “distinctly awful message” and a “disappointing narrative.”
2. Luca (2021)
Luca is one of the more recent films produced by Pixar. The film follows Luca, a little marine creature that dreams of experiencing the human world, and is set on the gorgeous Italian coast. After meeting Alberto, an orphaned sea creature, Luca acquires the confidence to interact with humans and dreams of a life beyond the ocean.
Luca is one of Pixar’s finest efforts. Critics comment that the film is endearing and entertaining and that it exemplifies how enduring a friendship can be if its members have a deep bond. However, imSOsalty acknowledges on Reddit that she is not a huge fan of the film and states, “I had only watched for twenty minutes. I was so bored that I believed an hour had passed “.
3. Onward (2020)
Onward is the narrative of two elf brothers who are searching for a resurrection object for their deceased father. During their voyage, they encounter a manticore, a centaur, a cyclops, and a pixie, among other supernatural creatures.
Despite not being as brilliant as the “classic” Pixar films, Onward stands out by combining a touching plot with superbly animated adventure sequences. Even though they enjoyed Onward, Reddit user lanismycousin notes that it “fell short” of their expectations for a Pixar film.
4. Toy Story 4 (2019)
In the fourth and last installment of the Toy Story franchise, iconic characters Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Bo Peep return. In the film, Bonnie, the toys’ new owner, takes them on a road trip. However, the excursion goes awry when the toys run into old friends at a carnival.
Critics appreciate Toy Story 4 for finishing the animation saga charmingly and hilariously. Nonetheless, Reddit user AnteaterPersonal3093 believes that Toy Story 3 is the film that should have concluded the saga because each toy “had their arcs and time to shine.”
5. Incredibles (2018)
Many moviegoers have always believed that Pixar’s The Incredibles merited a sequel. In this eagerly anticipated sequel, popular superheroes such as Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet, Flash, and Jack-Jack return to save the day. However, they are in a difficult position because they must combine their superhero lives with their ordinary lives.
The film by Brad Bird was well-received by critics because of its superbly written story, stunning CGI, and engaging plot. Unfortunately, Readlt0nReddit considers Incredibles 2 to be a “terrible” and “at best adequate” sequel.
6. Brave (2012)
Brave has a darker tone than other films produced by the animation firm Pixar. Princess Merida of DunBroch must remove the curse that transformed her mother into a bear in the film.

9. Ratatouille (2007)
The plot of Ratatouille is possibly one of the most unusual for a children’s animated picture. In the film, an aspiring chef named Linguini rises to the top with the assistance of Remy, a rat with exceptional cooking skills. Remy conceals himself beneath Linguini’s cap and manipulates him by pulling his hair.
With its superb soundtrack, delectable animation, and appealing characters, the breathtakingly animated film was able to captivate the hearts of viewers. PantsClock writes on Reddit that they enjoy the film’s antagonist and setting, but found the film to be “simply okay.”
10. Finding Nemo (2003)
Nobody can deny Finding Nemo’s cultural significance. Following the story of an overprotective father on a mission to save his son, the film made aquatic animals like clownfish and turtles cool.
The film was praised for its captivating storyline, iconic characters, and outstanding visual features. But in a Reddit post, Emperor-of-the-Chins questions why Finding Nemo is “compared to actual classics” and argues that Nemo’s mother’s death is a “great example of emotional manipulation” despite being “crucial to the plot.”
