In response to online controversy over an old video of Hailey Beiber and Taylor Swift, actor and musician Selena Gomez deleted her TikTok account, announcing that she would be taking a sabbatical from social media.
Selena Gomez has always been active on social media, even if many only know her from Murders in the Building. Selena recently surpassed Kylie Jenner to take the top spot for Instagram followers.
Nonetheless, Gomez disclosed in a recent Instagram live that she has decided to withdraw from online platforms.

Gomez began the live video with, “I’m really happy, I’m very lucky, I have the best friends, the best fans in the entire world, and I just couldn’t be happier.” “I’m OK. I don’t care if I’m large or small; I adore the way I am. I cherish who I am. And yes, I’m going to take a break from social media right now since this is kind of dumb. I’m too old for this at 30; nonetheless, I adore you guys so much! And I’ll see you, folks, real soon; I simply… Simply put, I’m going to take a break from everything.
This Selena Gomez video debuts shortly after the celebrity defended her close friend Taylor Swift in a recent TikTok clip of Hailey Bieber appearing to gag when Taylor’s name is mentioned.
Selena said, “so sorry my best friend is and continues to be one of the best in the game,” in response to the video receiving new attention. Time will tell whether Selena intends to return to TikTok soon or whether this social media break will be permanent.
Fans of the performer won’t have to wait long to catch her on screen, though, as Only Murders in the Building season 3 has been confirmed and filming has already begun.
