The Wheel of Time Season 2 Release Date: When Will It Premiere on Amazon Prime Video?
When will the second season of The Wheel of Time air? Before it debuted on the streaming site, The Wheel of Time, an Amazon fantasy series, received a season 2 renewal. Here is what is now known about what to anticipate when it returns.
Since Game of Thrones finished, we had been missing a high-concept political fantasy series with a much-needed female twist. The Wheel of Time season 1 filled that void. The first season’s eight well-paced episodes were jam-packed with story and worldbuilding. Along with dragons, magic, and fighters (but not that kind, not yet anyway). What might the premiere of The Wheel of Time season 2 bring?
We left the series with a few unanswered concerns, including how could Egwene (Madeleine Madden) revive Nyneave (Zo Robins) after she had seemingly died. What will happen to Josh Stradowski’s Rand, the dragon reborn? Where is Mat, played by Barney Harris? And when Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) lost contact with One Power, will she be able to rekindle her relationship with Lan (Daniel Henney)?
Here is what is now known about what to anticipate when it returns.
When Will The Wheel of Time Season 2 Be Released?
The release date for The Wheel of Time season 2 has not yet been announced by Amazon, but we can make some informed assumptions. The second season of The Wheel of Time was once anticipated to premiere in late 2022, immediately after Amazon’s other fantasy programme, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. That would have made for a great 1-2 combination.
When the series didn’t air, a late-late 2022 launch was then delayed. Thankfully, we now know that season 2 of The Wheel of Time will premiere in 2023. Judkin responded that there was still work to be done in post-production despite reports of a Dragonmount(opens in new tab) release in early 2023. A spring/summer 2023 release window, therefore, looks feasible in our opinion.

What Will Happen in The Wheel of Time Season 2?
The first episode’s name is “A Taste of Solitude,” according to a post from The Wheels of Time’s official Twitter account. This is the title of a chapter in the sixth volume of the series. On the Empire Spoiler Special Film Podcast, Rafe Judkins stated that Season 2 will incorporate storylines from Books Two, “The Great Hunt,” and Three, “The Dragon Reborn.”
These won’t directly follow the books, but rather they’ll be woven to better match the TV format. The eight-episode structure of the first season will be repeated in this one. Since Moiraine and Lan only appear in one chapter of book two, they have also had to bulk out their appearances in comparison to the books. This would be unfair to Rosamund Pike and Daniel Henney’s abilities and attractiveness.
Along with Brandon Sanderson, a co-author of the final three novels, and Robert Jordan’s widow, Harriet, Judkins discussed how he revised some aspects of the first book’s ending in an interview with Nerdist. Possibly to enhance the narrative and produce something that Jordan would have liked.
This required altering the initially chaotic conclusion, which saw other characters joining Rand at the Eye of the World for the showdown with The Dark One. The plot was altered to give the other actors more to do, share some of his fights in the decisive battle, and have it all occur at once. This raises the question of whether and how the five potential dragons will reunite in the upcoming series.
