The Midnight Club Season 2 Release Date: Is It Happening or Not?

It's up to Netflix to start a new month with a creepy vibe. If you didn't get it, you probably aren't doing Netflix and Chill right? Netflix started the month of October with the scary movie The Midnight Club. For those who don't know, The Midnight Club is based on the title novel by Christopher Pike.

The series follows a group of young teens with terminal illnesses who live together in a hospice for palliative care. But put a group of people together, and as the night goes on, they will definitely start to question the idea of ghosts and other supernatural things. And so do these teens in order to deal with their surroundings. But as their innocence goes out of control, they promise to contact the living when they get to the other side.

With such an interesting storyline, who wouldn't want a second season?

The Midnight Club Season 2 Release Date

The Midnight Club season 2 won't happen, though, because Netflix cancelled the show in December 2022. This is sad because there were plans to keep the series going forever.

“This [series] was meant to be ongoing,” co-creator Mike Flanagan said at a press conference Teen Vogue attended. I don't know if it will work. We'll see how it goes, but this was very much meant to go on. Pike wrote 80 books, so we have a lot of great material to choose from.”

From the start of production to the release of The Midnight Club season 1, it took about 18 months. This means that if a new season is confirmed by the end of the year and filming starts in early 2023, we can expect a second season of The Midnight Club by the middle of 2024.

Who Will Be in the Cast of the Midnight Club Season 2?

Even though Anya (Ruth Codd), who died in season 1, is unlikely to come back, we can probably expect the rest of the titular Club to come back. However, since their conditions are getting worse, we might have to say goodbye to more people before a possible season 2. Now, here are our predictions.

What Will Happen in The Midnight Club Season 2?

At the end of The Midnight Club season 1, there is a huge twist when it is revealed that Dr. Georgina Stanton not only wears a wig but also has an hourglass tattoo. This suggests that she may be connected to the dangerous death cult, the Paragon.

The Paragon, a supposed-to-be-defunct cult, is a big part of season 1. Members of the group thought they could heal sickness with the power of ancient Greek goddesses, but they thought they had to give blood sacrifices and the lives of others in return.

The founder of the Paragon, who was only known as Athena, also thought that these healing powers could help her live longer and stay young. She killed 12 members of her own group as a sacrifice to make this happen. But that was when the group stopped working.

It's likely that season 2 will focus on Dr. Stanton's connection to the Paragon and Athena, as well as Shasta, who was locked up after trying to do a ritual of her own and putting several lives at risk. Obviously, whatever Dr. Stanton has to do with the Paragon will also likely have an effect on Ilonka, who used to think the group had healing powers before the dark side of their past came out.

There's also the case of Sandra, who left Brightcliffe after learning that her illness wasn't fatal. Could she be brought back? And who are Cheri's parents, anyway? If a season 2 is ordered, all of these questions and more will be answered.
