When Will the Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 Come Out? How Popular is the Series on Netflix?
Based on Michael Connelly’s novel of the same name, “The Lincoln Lawyer” has proven to be a fan favorite, accumulating 1.85 billion viewing minutes in its first week of streaming (according to Deadline).
Following the success of the 2011 film starring Matthew McConaughey as Mickey Haller, the series is based on “The Brass Verdict,” the 2008 sequel to “The Lincoln Lawyer” novel. Fans and critics praised Manuel Garcia-Rulfo’s performance in the starring role of the Netflix production.
When Will Season 2 of The Lincoln Lawyer Be Released?
According to an Instagram post by executive producer and staff writer Michael Connelly, who is also the author of “The Lincoln Lawyer,” the series of books that inspired the Netflix show, filming for Season 2 of the loosely structured legal drama began on October 31, 2022?
This official date for when the cameras will start rolling comes about six months after Netflix released Season 1 around the world in May 2022. What’s On Netflix says that the episode drop happened 18 months after Netflix bought the rights to the series from ViacomCBS, which is now part of Paramount.
In 2020, ViacomCBS decided not to bring the show to a broadcast platform.
On June 6, 2023, Netflix said that Season 2 of “The Lincoln Lawyer” will come out in two parts. Part 1 will be available on the streaming service on July 6, 2023, and Part 2 will be ready to watch on August 3, 2023. There will be five episodes in each chunk.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 Plotline: What to Expect?
Season 1 of “The Lincoln Lawyer” concluded on a bit of a cliffhanger, with Mickey going for a surf while a mysterious man with an arm tattoo watched from a distance.
Glory Days viewers will be able to connect the dots and determine that he is likely the same man mentioned by a key witness in Jesus Menendez’s trial. Menendez was exonerated of a murder he did not commit after Glory testified that Menendez is innocent and that the real murderer had a tattooed forearm.
Moments later, a man matching Glory’s description stalks Mickey on the beach, so it’s reasonable to assume that Season 2 will follow the aftermath of Glory’s testimony and reveal the identity of the mysterious man.
We also know that Season 2 of “The Lincoln Lawyer” will be based on the fourth Mickey Haller novel by Michael Connelly, “The Fifth Witness” (via Netflix).
Interestingly, the showrunners have decided not to adapt the third book in the Haller series, “The Reversal.” “The Fifth Witness” focuses on the case of Lisa Trammel, a longtime client of Haller who is accused of murdering a wealthy mortgage broker.
Without any mention of the Menendez case in “The Fifth Witness,” viewers can only speculate as to how Season 2 will connect the two seemingly unrelated plots.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 Cast: Who is Starring?
Given that The Lincoln Lawyer is a procedural, but serialized, legal drama, new characters and cast members could be added in each season, which is exactly what happened in season 2. We also expect these mainstays to stay:
- Mickey Haller is played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo
- Maggie McPherson is played by Neve Campbell (recurring)
- Becki Newton played Lorna
- Angus Sampson played Cisco
- Jazz Raycole played Izzy.
- Krista Warner played Hayley Haller.
Christopher Gorham played Mickey’s client and billionaire Trevor Elliott in the first season, but he probably won’t be back for season 2.
A few new people are joining the cast for season 2, including:
- Matt Angel as Henry Dahl
- Lana Parrilla
- Yaya DaCosta

Recap for the Lincoln Lawyer Season 1
Just a quick review of the first season before we get into what could and should happen if the show comes back for a second season.
When Micky Haller took over Jerry Vincent’s practice and cases, he was thrown into the deep end. Trevor Elliot has been the most important case of the first season. Elliot was eventually let off the hook in court, but he was shot and killed. We still don’t know if Elliot did the thing that is being said about him.
Micky came out on the other side, not without a few cuts and bruises, but he was fully cleared and able to get back to work on his cases after a long break.
Micky is able to surf again at the end of the season, but the man with the tattoo who has been in the background all season watches from a distance, and then the show cuts to the credits.
Cisco has its own issues to deal with. He quit the Saints, but Mickey is now paying for what he did. What’s going to happen there? We’ll find out.
As you may know, season 1 of the Netflix show is based on the second book in the series. The Matthew McConaughey movie was based on the first book. There were some changes, but the story was mostly the same as the original.
Conclusion
Season 2 of The Lincoln Lawyer will focus on the case of Lisa Trammel, and new characters and cast members will be added. Netflix’s Top 10 ranking shows a 140% increase from week 1 to week 2. The first season of The Lincoln Lawyer is based on the second book in the series, with some changes, but the story is mostly the same as the original.
