The Last of Us Season 2 Bombshell: HBO Won’t Cover the Entire Game!
HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us has finished its first season. The final episode, “Look for the Light,” which was the most important one, just aired. Now, all eyes are on the second season, which was officially given the go-ahead in January. But the first season covered the whole first game and all of its DLC, while the second season won’t cover the whole second game.
In an interview with GQ, showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann confirmed the same thing. Druckmann also directed and wrote both games. Mazin said, “No. The Last of Us Part 2 will not be covered in its entirety in the second season.” No way.”
“It’s more than one season,” Druckmann said.
People think that the HBO show will take place over two seasons and cover the events of the second game, but Mazin and Druckmann haven’t said that for sure. Mazin said, “You’re right, we’re not going to say how many. But more than one of them is true.”
Druckmann went on to say that, just like the first season, the second season won’t be a 1:1 adaptation and will make some changes, which he’s very excited about. He said, “Some of the things I’m most looking forward to in Part 2 are the changes we’ve talked about and seeing the story come to life again in this other version.” “I think it’s exciting because it uses those feelings you had from the game in a new way and leans on them a lot.”
We don’t know when season 2 of the HBO show will air, but since it hasn’t even started filming yet, it’s probably going to be a while before we find out.
