The Last of Us is Officially Bigger Than House of the Dragon for HBO Viewership!
Obviously, HBO did very well when it came to TV shows. Not only did Euphoria and Succession break the internet, but the much-anticipated Game of Thrones spin-off series House of the Dragon was a huge hit.
The Last of Us has officially gotten more people to watch it on HBO than the Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon. According to the network, 8.2 million people watched the finale on March 12.
The number of viewers has been going up every week. The first episode of The Last of Us was seen by 4.7 million people, so in the past nine weeks, the number of viewers has grown by nearly 75%.
In the first six episodes, an average of 30.4 million people watched each one. In comparison, an average of 29 million people watched each episode of House of the Dragon between August and October 2022. This is the highest average number since Game of Thrones season 7 in 2017, which had an average of 32.5 million viewers per episode.
The Last of Us has already been picked up for a second season, and the next episode will be based on The Last of Us Part 2, the sequel video game that will come out in 2020—or at least part of it. It has already been decided that the game will be used for more than one season. In contrast, season 1 was all about what happened in the first game.
Incredibly The Last of Us actually had higher average ratings than House of the Dragon
