The Eight Most Romantic Moments of the Paris Olympics
These professional athletes are experiencing remarkable results in the City of Love.
The Paris Olympics have provided us with world records, immensely moving memories (remember when Team USA’s female gymnasts ran onto the podium with the American flag in hand after winning the gold?), and thrilling firsts for several countries since they commenced on July 26.
However, the Games have generated an abundance of romantic moments, including emotive exchanges, PDA between ex-partners, and one proposal after another. This has not been sufficiently discussed.
In all honesty, we would not anticipate anything less from the City of Love.
Subsequently, we analyze the Games’ most affectionate instances.
Alice Finot proposed
Alice Finot, a French runner, broke the European record in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase final. She then ran to the stands, where her fiancé was seated, and fell to one knee to propose to him.
Mondo Duplantis ran to his girlfriend
Armand “Mondo” Duplantis, a Swedish pole vaulter, achieved a gold medal at the Games by breaking the world record for pole vaulting. The 24-year-old athlete is captured in videos of the moment celebrating his milestone by sprinting directly to his fiancée, Desire Inglander, on the stands and giving her a passionate, tearful kiss.
The clip set to Taylor Swift’s “The Alchemy” has been shared by fans on social media, who have connected the Olympics moment to the pop star’s lyrics: “Where’s the trophy?” He simply dashes over to me.”
The “exes” who won the gold
Hallmark is being requested by fans to produce a romantic comedy featuring Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac, the Olympic tennis “exes” who placed first in the mixed doubles final and exchanged kisses. After a four-year relationship, the Team Czechia duo recently parted ways. But they still competed together at the Games, and after their final match, when they realized they would be winning the gold, they shared an impassioned, tearful embrace on the court, which sent the internet into a pandemonium. (Observe the embrace here.)
“You are unable to inform me that they are not reconciled.” A recording of the pair’s post-victory press conference, during which they declined to affirm or deny reconciliation rumors, was posted by sports journalist Rodger Sherman. The caption read, “YOU CANT.”
According to the Associated Press, Siniakova responded to a reporter who inquired about their current partnership by stating, “That is our personal life; therefore, you are not required to be informed.” “We enjoy it when you are perplexed.”
Machac concurred, characterizing their relationship status as “top secret.”
Huang Ya Qiong won gold—and a diamond
Liu Yuchen, Huang Ya Qiong’s beau, proposed to her on one knee immediately following their gold medal victory in Paris. Liu Yuchen was promptly criticized by social media users for allegedly making the event solely about him (lol). However, Huang Ya Qiong appears to be content with both her diamond ring and gold medal.
Jonathan Owens was Simone Biles’s biggest fan
The NFL athlete was present to provide his wife, who is now the most decorated Olympic gymnast in history, with support during her competitions. He also wore a “Biles” T-shirt when she and her Team USA won gold at the all-around team finals.
Owen has also frequently expressed his admiration for Biles on his Instagram account during the Games. He wrote, “Another one!!!!,” after she won first place in the individual all-around. You are truly remarkable.
Alev Kelter proposed
In Paris, immediately following the U.S. women’s rugby sevens team’s bronze medal victory in the finals, Alev Kelter proposed to her companion and fellow rugby player, Kathryn Treder.
Noah Lyles and Junelle Bromfield
Noah Lyles, a track champion for Team USA, sprinted directly to his fiancée, Junelle Bromfield, who is a sprinter for Team Jamaica, mere seconds after he secured the gold medal in the 400-meter.
The influential couple exchanged an emotional embrace.
Gianmarco Tamberi wrote a poem to his wife
“…I felt (the ring) slip away, I saw it fly … I followed (it) with a glance until I saw (it) bouncing inside the boat,” he wrote on Instagram in Italian alongside a photo of him and Chiara together on their wedding day.
