The Crown Season 5 Release Date: Here is Everything We Know About Show
The Crown is a 2016 Netflix original series that depicted the longest-reigning monarch of the modern era in a new manner. Since resuming production after delays caused by Covid, Netflix has been disclosing more information about the series, which is now in its fifth season.
The Crown season 5 is thought to showcase some of the most shocking incidents of the modern monarchy’s history, with Charles and Princess Diana’s deteriorating relationship a significant feature. Here is everything we know about The Crown Season 5, including its release date, cast, and likely plot.
When will The Crown Season 5 be Released?
Season 5 of The Crown will premiere on Netflix in November 2022. During Netflix’s TUDUM event in September 2021, Imelda Staunton, who will star in the fifth season as Queen Elizabeth II, revealed the release window for The Crown Season 5.
Variety stated that filming resumed in July 2021, following a production pause following the release of Season 4. Due to an outbreak of Covid-19 among the staff at the close of the previous year, filming was halted prior to the holiday season.
Where to Watch The Crown Season 5
Season 5 of The Crown will be available on Netflix once it is released. The Crown’s earlier seasons are also available on Netflix.
The Crown Season 5 Plot Speculation
The fifth season of The Crown will focus on the early to mid-1990s, a very volatile period in royal history. Maggie Thatcher was ejected from Downing Street in the season 4 finale, but The Crown will not immediately resume up where it left off in 1990.
The fifth season is rumoured to begin in 1992 (the year the Queen described as her “annus horribilis”) and run for five years, concluding with the death of Princess Diana in 1997. Bertie Carvel has been cast as Tony Blair, who came to power in 1997, lending credence to the rumours. Netflix has not yet verified any of the above, but the casting of Bertie Carvel as Blair adds credence to the speculation.
If The Crown covers the years 1992 to 1997, it appears likely that the Queen’s and Prince Charles’ relationship would continue to worsen as he pursues a connection with Camilla and divorces Diana. It is also anticipated that disgraced Prince Andrew would play a key role in the future season, given he divorced Sarah Ferguson around this time period.

The infamous Paul Bashir Panorama interview with Diana will also be discussed at some time. The Queen celebrated her golden wedding anniversary in 1997, so it’s not all bad news for The Firm.
