The Boys season 3 has all been about fathers.

Thanks to Ryan (Cameron Crovetti), the child of Homelander and Billy Butcher's late wife Becca, the third season finale of the Amazon Prime Video series officially began the next stage of their continuous conflict.

All season long, Butcher tried to keep the youngster away from his biological father, but Ryan ultimately decided to board a plane with Homelander on July 8. Bam!

In the last scene, Homelander introduces Ryan to a rally of his fans. Then, when a critic of Homelander hurled something at Ryan, the superhuman killed the man out of the blue with his laser eyes, much to the pleasure of the crowd.

In this last twisted shot, Ryan could be seen slowly grinning as he watched his father receive thunderous applause from the crowd. What did the youthful supes' appearance indicate then?

This shocking cliffhanger might have left viewers in anticipation of what comes next – and we’ve rounded up everything we know so far about the future of the series.

They want to tune back in off of an ‘Oh shit! What's going to happen now?!' That was a hint that Ryan's soul is at risk and he has to be saved because if it doesn't he's really going to go into a dark place.”

A Spin-off in the Making

A spin-off of The Boys now known as The Boys Presents: Varsity, or just Varsity, was ordered back in 2020 and is now under production. In an interview with DeadlineThe Boys showrunner Eric Kripke made it clear that the two shows will be happening in conjunction with one another.

“There’s definitely crossover, and we’re doing our best to design a universe that sees some of the issues and storylines in Season 3 hand off to the first season in Varsity. Like there’s a presidential campaign happening in the background of that season, and there’s certain things that are happening at that school that are both in reaction to Season 3 of The Boys. There’s Soldier Boy, etcetera, but also some new storylines that are happening in that season of the spinoff that we have to pick up and take into Season 4 of the show.”
