Stranger Things Season 5 Release Date: When It Will Premiere on Netflix?
Stranger Things, a popular science fiction show made by the Duffer Brothers, came back to TV screens in 2022 with season 4, which came out in two parts in May and July. Stranger Things is about the lives of four teenagers in the quiet North American town of Hawkins in the 1980s. Their world is soon turned upside down when they meet a girl with amazing powers and find themselves in the middle of scary, strange things.
Noah Schnapp says that filming for the last season of the hit Netflix show Stranger Things will start in May. Pre-production for season 5 is still going on.
But when is it coming out? What will happen in the 5th season? Who will be back from the cast? Even though it’s a long way off, here’s what we know so far about Stranger Things season 5…
When Will Stranger Things Season 5 Come Out?
We don’t know when Stranger Things season 5 will come out but don’t worry, it will. But before you try to scare us with a Demogorgon, there is some good news about the schedule for making the show. Season 4 won’t take as long.
Because of the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic, Season 4 of Stranger Things was delayed a lot. Season 4 was supposed to come out in January 2021. But now we all know that wasn’t true; the TV show didn’t start streaming until May 2022.
With Covid being left behind, the industry has moved on. We think season 5 of Stranger Things will come out soon. In fact, Noah Schnapp said in January 2023 that the show will begin filming in May 2023.
The Duffer brothers told Variety, “Don’t hold us to it, but the gap should be a lot shorter this time because we already have an outline, and we can’t imagine there will be another forced six-month break.”
The Duffer brothers have also said that they started writing the scripts in August 2022. Keeping this in mind, and remembering that Stranger Things season 4 part 1 came out nine months after it was filmed, we can expect Stranger Things season 5 to come out in late 2023 or early 2024. But this is just a guess, so make sure to check this guide for any new information.
We also have guides for the upcoming Doctor Strange Season 3, Thor 5 and many more!

We don’t know for sure who will be in Stranger Things season 5, but we expect that all the main characters who are still alive will be back. This includes the bad guy Vecna, who was defeated at the end of the season but is likely to come back.
Here’s a list of everyone we think will be back for season 5 of Stranger Things:
- Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven

- Noah Schnapp as Will
- David Harbour as Jim Hopper
- Winona Ryder as Joyce
- Joe Keery as Steve
- Natalia Dyer as Nancy

- Priah Ferguson as Erica
- Charlie Heaton as Jonathan
- Eduardo Franco as Argyle
- Bret Gelman as Murray
What Will the Stranger Things Season 5 Be About?
We don’t know exactly what will happen in season 5, but the creators and cast have already given us hints in interviews. When season 5 was first announced, the Duffer Brothers said in a statement that the “complete story arc” had been planned out seven years before and that the fifth season will be the end of that plan.
In a later interview with SFX, they confirmed that the ending still fits “the rough sketch” they made, but that it has become “more interesting and exciting than I and Ross originally thought.”
“We know how the story ends,” they said. It’s possible that it will change, but I don’t think it will because it’s one of those endings that has always felt right. And it also feels like it was bound to happen. Then when you come up with it, you’re like, “Oh yeah, well, that’s exactly what it has to be.”
We also know that there will probably be a time jump in season 5 because Ross Duffer told TVLine, “I’m sure we’ll do a time jump. We would have liked to shoot [seasons 4 and 5] right after each other, but that wasn’t possible. All of these are things we’ll talk about with our writers when we open the room.”
It also looks like season 5 will be a bit of an emotional roller coaster, like the previous seasons. Ross Duffer told The Wrap that when the show’s creators told Netflix about the final episode, “they really liked it.” I mean, it was difficult. Now the story is over. I saw business leaders cry who I’d never seen cry before, and it was crazy.”

During an interview with Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Duffer Brothers hinted that the final season will move quickly. It will take place in Hawkins and pick up where season 4 left off, with The Upside Down finally merging with the real world.
Duffer added, “For the first time ever, we don’t wrap things up at the end of [season] 4, so… things will move pretty quickly. The characters will already be doing things. “They’ll already have a goal and a drive, and I think that will give them at least a couple of hours and make this season feel very different.”
