Squid Game Season 2 Release Date: We Have Received an Update! Who Will Return in Squid Game Season 2?
Squid Game was arguably the most popular Netflix show of the year in 2017. The Korean survival series holds the record for being the most-watched show on Netflix in history, according to Netflix. The first season ended on a cliffhanger, and fans can't wait to find out what happens in the second season of the show.
Hwang Dong-Hyuk, the writer of Squid Game season 2, has finally provided an update on the series. While this is exciting news, we are concerned that it may not be enough to make up for the events of the first season.
Squid Game will return for a second season, with creator Hwang Dong-hyuk confirming the renewal back in November 2021. The show will also feature some returning cast members, including some from the first season.
As previously announced by Hwang, Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung-hun will be returning to the show to reprise their roles as the game's winner Seung Gi-hun and a mysterious Front Man, respectively.
When asked who would be returning, the screenwriter responded, “Gi-hun without a doubt.” “He will be back, and I believe the Front Man will be back as well,” says the narrator.
What Happened in the Season 1 Recap?
“Our moms used to call us in for dinner when we played like this as kids. But no one calls us anymore.” To be honest, the season finale of Squid Game lacked a lot of the show's usual polish. The final showdown in the rain was a cliche, right down to the survivor cradling his dead friend in his arms while wailing in grief.
And I could do without the final shot's “We have to go back”-style return to the crime scene, with Gi-hun abandoning his planned flight to see his daughter in favor of taking down the game masters. Even the revelation of the game’s creator felt a little easy, the manner of his death at just the right moment too forced.
First, a recap. The Squid Game is Gi-hun and Sang-final woo's game. (Like the American audience, the American VIPs need to know the rules before the game.) Gi-hun refuses to deliver the killing blow, asking Sang-woo to join him in quitting, forcing the game masters to let them both go free—broke, in debt to their eyeballs, but free. Instead, Sang-woo utters the quote above and stabs himself in the neck.
So Gi-hun is the sole survivor and winner. The Front Man blindfolds him and drives him away in a limousine, calling him and his friends “racehorses.” He's dumped on the street with a $39 million debit card in his mouth. He stumbles home, first meeting Sang-mother, woo's then finding his own mother dead on the apartment floor.
But neither mother can protect their sons from themselves. Obviously, they wouldn't be in debt if the Hunger Games were a viable alternative to their current lives. To be safe from their own worst instincts, and from wolves like Il-nam and his sociopathic rich friends, is what Sang-woo craved.
Awakening as an adult in a capitalist world teaches you how alone and powerless you are against the powerful forces that move the world, forces that would plunder you and yours for parts at the slightest opportunity if there was money in it for anyone.
It doesn't matter what games you play to outwit the game masters—you might even succeed like Gi-hun—no one calls you anymore. No one calls you home, safe, and loved. No one can stop you from playing the game. No one.
Squid Game Season 2 Release Date Rumours
How long should we wait? This is a question that we can't answer, but the rumors don't look good for them. Nobody is going to see the show in 2022.
The last we heard from the show's creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, writing hadn't even begun on the season. When he thinks about the movie's plot, he hasn't written it down just yet. The actors can't get their scripts and filming can't happen if they don't write them down first.
Dong-hyuk hopes to have season 2 ready for release by late 2024.

Who Will Return in Squid Game Season 2?
Season 2 of the Squid Game won't have many familiar faces, because the game is so different from other games.
In the first season, there were 456 competitors. All but one of them died.
Seong Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-Jae, is the one person you can probably count on. After making it out of the game alive, he was tempted back in when he saw someone else being chosen for the million-dollar life or death game.

Park Hae-soo, Oh Yeong-us, and Hoyeon, who played the characters in the show, could make a comeback, but only in flashbacks as Gi-hun plays the games again, remembering his dead friends.
It's another name that fans want to see back: Gong Yoo, the Korean star who's best known to the world as the star of Train To Busan.
Gong's high-profile cameo was a big deal for fans, but it also opens the door for him to return. Because, after all, he must be out there somewhere, still trying to find new people to die in the game. It wouldn't be hard to bring Gong's character back to life in season two (hopefully with more scenes this time around).
What Can We Expect From Squid Game Season 2 Plot Theories?
Seung Gi-hun won in the first games, but it looks like the horror isn't over yet, even though. That they're still having problems, but with a different group. So Gi-hun can be the ultimate hero and stop them all, as long as he does it right.
In this case, it's safe to say that this game isn't the first or the last one in the series. That means the series could go in any direction as the Saw series did. If there was a second season, creator Hwang Dong-hyuk would like it to look at the police in Korea instead of the contestants. The first season was all about them.
During the time I was writing season one, I thought about the stories that could happen in season two if I were to write one. One of them would be the story of the Frontman. I think there is a problem with police officers all over the world.
When police officer Hwang Jun-ho sneaked into the Game facility, we saw what it was like to work there. We don't know much about how the workers were hired or why they chose to work there. His brother is the “Front Man,” and he became a senior member of the Game after winning in 2015. We don't know why he joined the Game, which led him to kill several people.
“That's an interesting idea,” he said. “I might use it if we have a second season.”
One of the contestants, Old Man Oh Il-nam, is said to be a wealthy investor in the games. Hwang says that he's willing to look into Oh Il-past. names The way he longs for happy times from the past shows that he has lost a lot of things, like his family and humanity, in order to be successful.” If there is a second season, we might tell a little more about his past.
He said he might get ideas for a second season from fans. “Since I like to write alone, maybe all these ideas on YouTube can be my writing room.” Or maybe I can ask my fans on social media for ideas for new things I could do. While I work on films, I will try to think more.
In addition, he said that if he did write more episodes of the show, he would want to look into the storylines between the Front Man and his police officer brother, and also the recruiter for the games.
“That recruiter in a suit who plays ddakji with Gi-hun in the first episode could also be talked about. And, of course, we could go on with Gi-story hun's as he turns back and learns more about how he will deal with the people who are making the games. So, I don't know yet, but I'll say there are a lot of storylines that could happen in season two.”
Squid Game Season 2 Trailer: When Can I Watch It?
There hasn't even been filming on the new season yet, so the release date is still a long way off.
Consequently, there is no trailer, either, so that's not good.
Squid Game, on the other hand, has made us think twice about gambling for the rest of our lives. If we had to bet money on when new footage would arrive, late 2022 looks like a good choice.
