This season of Snowpiercer is already confirmed by the American television network TNT, much like the titular train is on its way onward. In actuality, the renewal was announced on July 29, 2021, while season three was still in the process of being filmed and edited.
Paul Zbyszewski (Agents of SHIELD, Helstrom) will replace executive producers Graeme Manson and Aubrey Nealon, who both departed the programme following the third season, as showrunner for season three.
“I’m really thankful to everyone at TNT and Tomorrow Studios for allowing me to become a part of the captivating universe of Snowpiercer that Graeme and Aubrey have so meticulously designed and built,” Zbyszewski said in a statement released by the network.
His statement added, “We have a great fourth season planned.” In addition, I can’t wait to get back on set with such a talented cast and crew as we continue to explore new worlds, solve new mysteries, and build character relationships.”
The Cast of Snowpiercer Season 4
The series’ cast, which was already quite vast at the outset, has continued to grow significantly since its debut, with a number of notable actors, such as Sean Bean and Archie Panjabi, joining in following seasons to round out the ensemble.
Despite the fact that there have been a couple of high-profile deaths in that time, there are still a few familiar faces we can count on to return for the next instalment, including Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Iddo Goldberg, Lena Hall, Sam Otto, Sheila Vand, Rowan Blanchard, Mike O’Malley, Roberto Urbina, and Jaylin Fletcher, to name a few.
After her character LJ Folger was tragically murdered in the season 3 finale, Annalise Basso’s character Asha also met her end after sacrificing herself earlier in the season.
Further complicating matters is the fact that Sean Bean’s character Mr Wilford has been expelled from Snowpiercer, which is a step up from being killed off, as has frequently been the case for the actor in his previous roles.
The possibility of his return remains, and if we receive any confirmation in either direction, we’ll make the appropriate changes to this page.
Clark Gregg, from Agents of SHIELD, and Michael Aronov, from The Americans, are two actors who have confirmed that they will appear in season 4 – although little is known about the characters they will be playing at this time.
What Will happen in the Fourth Season of Snowpiercer?
Snowpiercer, for a programme that takes place entirely in one location, has a penchant for upending the established order, consistently shocking us with game-changing twists that alter our perception of the show as a whole.
As a result, the season three finale divided the 1,029-car train into two groups: those who wished to remain with Melanie and those who chose to accompany Andre to a fresh start in New Eden. Season three’s finale was broadcast on September 14, 2013. The passengers can now pick their own destiny instead of initiating another battle, which feels surprisingly uplifting for such a post-apocalyptic show.
Finally, the final episode concludes with a time leap that transports us three months into the future, where Melanie witnessed a missile launch from an unidentified site on the horizon. Is it possible that it came from Big Alice, which should now be in New Eden, or from somewhere else? That appears to be unlikely, given the fact that Andre’s squad should be a long way away by now.
A new and unfamiliar area where a greater number of survivors reside is more likely to be the source of the missile. In fact, that is most likely how the show will introduce the new characters played by Clark Gregg and Michael Aronov. In addition, we wouldn’t be shocked if Wilford is involved in some way in all of this as well.
But for what purpose is the missile being used? Is it some sort of beacon of some sort? Is it yet another attempt to raise the temperature of the Earth’s surface by heating the atmosphere? “New mysteries” will be introduced in season four, according to new showrunner Paul Zbyszewski, who didn’t mince words when he indicated that we’d have much to think about.
