Sing 2 Cast

Many of the cast members from the first film will return in “Sing 2.” Matthew McConaughey reprises his role as koala Buster Moon, with Reese Witherspoon’s mother pig Rosita, Scarlett Johansson’s rocker porcupine Ash, Taron Egerton’s earnest gorilla Johnny, Tori Kelly’s timid elephant Meena, and porcine provocateur Gunter (Nick Kroll).

U2 frontman Bono plays legendary rocker lion Clay Calloway, Bobby Cannavale plays Crystal Entertainment’s ruthless wolf mogul, Halsey plays Mr. Crystal’s rotten daughter Porsha, and Pharrell Williams, Nick Offerman, Letitia Wright, Eric André, Chelsea Peretti, and Garth Jennings provide voices in other roles.

Sing 2 Official Synopsis

Buster (Matthew McConaughey) has made the New Moon Theater a local sensation, but he has his sights set on a greater prize: premiering a new performance in the luxurious Redshore City’s Crystal Tower Theater.

Yet, without any associations, Buster and his cast—including harried mother pig Rosita (Reese Witherspoon), rocker porcupine Ash (Scarlett Johansson), sincere gorilla Johnny (Taron Egerton), bashful elephant Meena (Tori Kelly) and, obviously, porcine provocateur Gunter (Nick Kroll)— need to slip their direction into the world-popular Crystal Entertainment workplaces, run by savage investor wolf Jimmy Crystal (Emmy victor Bobby Cannavale).

Gunter presents an outlandish concept that Buster instantly runs with, saying that their new program would include lion rock icon Clay Calloway, in a desperate bid to capture Mr. Crystal’s attention (Bono).

The problem is that Buster has never met Clay, an artist who withdrew from society after the death of his wife more than a decade ago. Worse, Buster is unaware that Mr. Crystal is an egotistical mobster who would rather toss someone over a building’s roof than be lied to.

What About The Release Date of The Series?   Milo Murphy’s Season 3:

As the pressure (and ominous threats) from Mr. Crystal mounts, Rosita’s major part in the performance is torn away and given to Mr. Crystal’s pampered daughter, Porsha, played by Grammy-nominated musician Halsey. Buster sets out to find Clay and urge him to return to the stage, desperate to preserve the play and his life.

What starts off as a fantasy of big-time success turns into an emotional reminder of music’s ability to heal even the most wounded heart.

Sing 2 Creator, Director and Cinematography Crew

Garth Jennings, who also wrote and directed the previous film, returns to write and direct “Sing 2.” Jennings previously directed the film adaptations of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” and “Son of Rambow.”

Garth Jennings has a history of appearing in small roles in Edgar Wright’s Cornetto Trilogy. He is billed as “Fun Dead” Zombie in “Shaun of the Dead,” a crack addict in “Hot Fuzz,” and a man in the sixth bar in “The World’s End.” Jennings has also directed music videos for artists such as Fatboy Slim, REM, Radiohead, and Vampire Weekend.

Will Sing 2 Combined Classic Rock And Pop In Numerous Musical Shows?

It’s like the first season of the show, Sing 2 will feature a mix of dozens of great rock and pop songs from yesteryear and now.

While neither Illumination nor Universal Pictures have revealed a list of songs that will appear in the forthcoming jukebox musical animated comedy picture, its 2016 predecessor’s soundtrack included covers of everything from Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” to Queen and David Bowie’s “Under Pressure,” and Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” to Stevie Wonder and Ariana Grande’s “Faith.” In the following months, we’ll learn more about Sing 2’s music.

That’s a lot to take in for a family film that comes out a few days before Christmas. But if there’s one thing that makes the holidays more pleasurable, it’s reminding children of their own mortality, the challenges of navigating a capitalist system, and how the rest of life’s hardships and tribulations don’t care whether you can sing like an angel.
