On Wednesday, Clark surpassed the WNBA’s rookie 3-point record.
Caitlin Clark is creating history, and the entire sports community is supporting her, including Simone Biles.
On Wednesday, August 28, the Indiana Fever secured an 84-80 victory over the Connecticut Sun at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where the 27-year-old Olympic gymnast was present.
Clark, who is 22 years old, had an impressive performance, netting 19 points, five rebounds, and five assists. She also made her 86th 3-pointer of the season early in the game. This eclipsed the WNBA’s rookie 3-point record, which was previously held by Rhyne Howard.
Following the game, Clark and her teammates met Biles and Olympic track star Gabby Thomas, 27, who greeted them with hugs and smiles.
“The squad was ecstatic to meet Simone Biles and Gabby Thomas after our win at @GainbridgeFH . the reactions 😂 🙌,” the WNBA team captioned a video shared across its social media accounts.
Biles addressed the camera after the pleasant encounter, stating, “They were so excited. Oh my god. It’s like usually the boy will just pass and be like ‘Yup.’ But they were so excited, that was so cool.”
She also shared the video on X and wrote, “EVERYONE WATCHES WOMENS SPORTS 🫶🏽 so happy to be able to go support! My first of many WNBA games 🤞🏽.”
Another statement Thomas made regarding X was,“First WNBA game of many! Had so much fun supporting these stars 🙌🏾.”
According to The Indianapolis Star, David Letterman and Anthony Richardson, the quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, were among the other celebrities in attendance.
It should come as no surprise that Clark broke yet another record lately, this time for rookie assists in the WNBA.
She told reporters last month that she still has a strong work ethic despite not being selected for the 2024 U.S. women’s basketball team to compete in Paris.
“It makes me think of like that’s your time in college. And I feel like I was just a freshman in college. So it shows you that you know you got to start working now if you want that to be your dream in four years,” she said. “So I think that’s just that’s it for me is like, you know, work hard, and hopefully you can be there.”
