Shocking News: ‘Carnival Row’ is Ending After Season 2 on Prime Video
Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne play Rycroft Philostrate and Vignette Stonemoss, respectively, in Carnival Row. Vignette is a fae, whilst Rycroft is a human. The seeds of their love germinate into all-out war, chaos, darkness, and possible annihilation.
Nobody ever said love was simple! After two promising seasons and an engaging premise, why in the world was Carnival Row cancelled? Here are the known facts.
Why Was ‘Carnival Row' Cancelled?
We can attribute it to poor scheduling and low ratings. According to Digital Spy, the first season of Carnival Row remained in the top 10 TV series on Prime Video in the United States for a full month following the series launch. Unfortunately, it was only in the top 10 TV series on Amazon Video U.K. for one day.
Let's return to the year 2019. The premiere of the first season of Carnival Row on Amazon Video occurred in August 2019. Prime Video was so confident in the series that it renewed it for a second season before the premiere of the first season.
When is Carnival Row Season 2 scheduled to begin production? Early in 2020… around March of that year. And do you know what was costly? Given the shutdowns at the height of the COVID-19 outbreak, it was impossible to film during that time.
Will A Different Streaming Service Save ‘Carnival Row'?
The future of Carnival Row is currently undetermined. We have not been given an official explanation as to why Carnival Row was cancelled (maybe there is still hope on Prime Video?).
But, considering the circumstances of low ratings and the COVID-19 pandemic (which harmed many television programmes and films), it just seems like a horrible time for what could have been a fantastic Prime fantasy series.
Speaking of amazing fantasy programmes available on Prime Video, fans of Carnival Row at least have two seasons to watch! Amazon has released the first four episodes of Season 2 of Carnival Row as of February 17, 2023.
Two new episodes of Carnival Row will premiere on Amazon Prime Video every Friday until the series' conclusion on March 17, 2023. Season 1 of Carnival Row had eight episodes, and Season 2 also includes eight episodes, for a total of 18 episodes to binge-watch.
Carnival Row Will Not Return for Season 3
The two-season run is likely disheartening to executive producer Travis Beacham, whose 2005 screenplay A Killing on Carnival Row became the Prime Video series.
It began official pre-production in 2015 and received a series order in 2017. The first season premiered on Amazon Video in 2019, however, because of the pandemic, filming for the second season did not begin until 2021. The series had to overcome numerous obstacles in order to reach this position and conclude after two seasons.
Beacham and Rene Echevarria devised the adaptation of the series. Orlando Bloom, Cara Delevingne, Simon McBurney, Tamzin Merchant, David Gyasi, Andrew Gower, Karla Crome, Arty Froushan, Indira Varma, and Jared Harris are featured in the film Carnival Row.
The second and last season of Carnival Row will air on February 17 on Amazon Video. The series will consist of 10 episodes, with fresh episodes debuting weekly thereafter.
