Mother: Hilary Claire, taught French at the school where he was born and raised he also had a younger brother, Josh Meyers, who was also a movie star, like his father.

Meyers has family roots in Lithuania, Austria, Croatia, England, Germany, Sweden, and the Czech Republic when it comes to where they came from. Meyers went to Edgewood Elementary School in Okemos while his family lived in Michigan.

He then went to Manchester High School West in New Hampshire. After high school, he went to Northwestern University in Illinois, which is just outside of Chicago, to start college there. It was there that he joined Phi Gamma Delta and the Mee-Ow Show, the school's comedy group.

ImprovOlympic and Boom Chicago, a comedy group based in Amsterdam, were the next groups he joined to keep growing his early comedy career. Meyers was there when scouts from “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) saw him and asked him to audition for the show, so he did.

Career

It was Meyers' first audition that went well, so he joined the cast of SNL in 2001. As time went on, he became a very well-liked cast member. It was in 2005 that Meyers took on a more important writing role. His job was to make sure that the writing was good. In 2006, he was the co-head writer with Tina Fey and Andrew Steele, along with their help.

When Tina Fey left the show, Meyers became the show's head writer and took over Fey's role on the popular “Weekend Update” with Amy Poehler, who was also on the show. The segment was very well-received, and even after Poehler left SNL, they would sometimes bring it back when she came back as a guest.

Meyers played a lot of well-known characters in addition to ‘Weekend Update.' Many of the SNL sketches that made him famous were written or performed by him. Tina Fey's role as Sarah Palin and Louis C.K.'s role in the “Abe Lincoln” sketch were two examples.

In 2007, he went on strike with the Writers Guild of America. The strike asked for more money and pay because many TV networks were making a lot of money. Meyers' last SNL show aired in 2014. Amy Poehler, Fred Armisen, and Andy Sandberg were some of the SNL stars who came back for the special episode.

They all came with him when he did his last “Weekend Update.” Following the show, he has only come back once as a guest house. He did this in 2018.

Personal Life

Meyers is married to a lawyer named Alexi Ashe. When they first met, they dated for five years. They got married at Martha's Vineyard in July of 2013. The couple has two sons, Ashe and Axel, who were born when they were together. Meyers isn't Jewish, but his wife is, and the couple has decided to raise their sons in a Jewish home, even though Meyers isn't Jewish.
