Senior Year Release Date is a great time to enjoy a lighthearted high school comedy as the school year draws close, as kids and adults may reminisce about their past experiences. It’s possible that Rebel Wilson’s upcoming comedy, Senior Year, will be precisely that. Senior Year, directed by Alex Hardcastle, appears to be a current take on the classic 90s comedies like Clueless and Never Been Kissed, which were popular.
The film is 111 minutes long and has an R classification, which indicates that it is aimed at a more mature audience. The story revolves around Wilson’s character, Stephanie, who returns to high school after a two-decade coma to become Prom Queen. Netflix categorizes Senior Year as both funny and heartwarming. To that end, we’re hoping it can create a lighthearted romp about adolescence and generational dialogue. Until now, this is all we know about Senior Year.

Netflix customers will be able to access Senior Year starting May 13, 2022. Netflix is handling the distribution of this comedy, so there’s no need to hunt for it in a theatre. In What Ways Does the Senior Year Have a Narrative?
Never Been Kissed-like in some ways, Senior Year tells the story of a high school cheerleader who wakes up from a 20-year coma and wants to resume her senior Year. Stephanie struggles to reclaim her life and acclimate to the social mores and conventions of 2022 with the help and encouragement of both new and old acquaintances. Although she is 20 years older than her new classmates, she is open about her relationship with Never Been Kissed’s Josie; Stephanie had a great time in high school the first time around and can’t wait to go back. Netflix has released the following official synopsis:
Senior Year’s Cast and Crew Have Been Revealed
Rebel Wilson plays Stephanie in Senior Year. The Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect star is best recognized for her comedic roles, but she has also appeared in dramatic roles, such as Jojo Rabbit and The Help. Even though this film will feature Wilson as a high school student attempting to replicate the American high school experience, Wilson herself attended a Christian boarding school. Angourie Rice portrays the role of Stephanie’s younger self in the film. As Betty Brant in the Spider-Man movies, Rice is perhaps best recognized. The Mare of Easttown also featured her as Siobhan Sheehan. Additionally, The Afterparty and Veep’s Sam Richardson appear in the series. Richardson was on Ted Lasso as Edwin Akufo and will portray Gilbert in Hocus Pocus 2.
Justin Hartley plays Blaine. In addition to his starring role in This Is Us, Hartley has been in other television shows, including Passions and Smallville. Tyler Barnhardt portrays Blaine as a young man. Barnhardt has appeared in Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why as Charlie St. George.
Lance is played by Love, Victor’s Michael Cimino, while Sex Appeal’s Joshua Colley plays Yaz. Jeremy Ray Taylor, best known for his role as Ben Hanscom in It, and Avantika, who appeared in the Disney Channel movie Spin, also appear in the film.
Chris Parnell, who never ceases to amuse, also has a role in Senior Year. “Good-natured incompetent and oblivious” characters like Dr. Spaceman from 30 Rock and Jerry from the animated series Rick and Morty are among Parnell’s most famous roles. It’s no surprise that Alicia Silverstone returns to her high school romance roots in Senior Year when she plays a cheerleader. Cher Horowitz from 1995’s Clueless, played by Silverstone, has defined the genre for a generation (the teaser for Senior Year even includes a poster for the film in Stephanie’s room). Silverstone has recently appeared in films such as The Lodge and American Woman.
As a television director, Alex Hardcastle has worked on Parks and Recreation and The Office (US), and New Girl and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. This is his debut feature picture. Daniel Radcliffe and Jon Hamm starred in the first season of A Young Doctor’s Notebook, directed by him. Andrew Knauer, Arthur Pielli, and Brandon Scott Jones wrote the screenplay for Senior Year, produced by Rebel Wilson, Todd Garner, and Chris Bender.
