Season 2 of Sex/Life: Release Dates, Cast, and News

Following the tragic season conclusion, Adam Demos, Sarah Shahi, and Mike Vogel will return for Sex/Life season two.
Sex/Life, the Netflix love triangle drama, will return for a second season, with five new actors joining the ensemble in recurring roles.

Sarah Shahi will reprise her role as Billie Connelly with Adam Demos as her on-again, off-again boyfriend Brad, while Dylan Bruce, Craig Bierko, Darius Homayoun, and Cleo Anthony will make their season 2 debuts.

“Part two will be out very soon,” Shahi wrote on Instagram. “Thank you to everyone who helped us get here.”

The love triangle between sex-obsessed suburban mum Billie (Shahi), her straight-laced loving husband Cooper (Mike Vogel), and her bad-boy ex-boyfriend Brad, played by Adam Demos – who also happens to be Shahi’s real-life partner – was explored in eight episodes of Sex/Life.

In the final episode, just when it appeared that Billie had made her decision, a surprising twist and cliffhanger were ending that set things up for season 2.

Will there be a second season of Sex/Life?

In September 2021, Netflix announced that Sex/Life has been renewed for a second season.

Adam Demos, who plays Billie’s ex-boyfriend Brad, hinted at the start of production when he uploaded a photo from the first season on Instagram in January with the caption: “It’s almost time for @sexlife season 2 to begin. Pumped!”

So, while we wait for the second season to premiere, review all of the first season’s banging (pun intended) sounds with our guide to the Sex/Life soundtrack.

Season 2 of Sex/Life

Season 2 of Sex/Life release date rumors:

According to cast member Adam Demos, filming for season 2 began in February, so new episodes should be available before the end of the year. We’ll keep you updated as soon as Netflix announces an official release date.

Netflix ordered Sex/Life in August 2019 (for a one-season order), and casting news began trickling in between January and March 2020. The show was supposed to start production shortly after that, but it didn’t due to clear coronavirus-related reasons.

Filming began in Mississauga, Canada, at the end of August 2020, and ended in December 2020, slightly over three months later. We estimate that a second season might be filmed by spring 2022, based on those timelines.

Netflix has announced the addition of Dylan Bruce (Orphan Black), Craig Bierko (Unreal), Darius Homayoun (Succession), and Cleo Anthony (She’s Gotta Have It) to the Sex/Life season 2 ensemble. According to Deadline, their roles have yet to be revealed.

They’ll be joining Sarah Shahi’s Billie Connelly and Adam Demos’ Brad, who plays her ex-boyfriend (and possibly present lover?).

Billie’s husband Cooper (Mike Vogel), her best friend Sasha (Margaret Odette), Cooper’s employer Francesca (Li Jun Li), and Cooper’s coworker Devon will all return to the Sex/Lifecast (Jonathan Sadowski).

What occurs in the second season? Brad and Billy’s Relationship in the Future

**WARNING: SEASON ONE SPOILERS**

After eight episodes, plenty of intense sex scenes, and some full-frontal nudity from Adam Demos, Sex/Life season one came to a dramatic conclusion with Billie making a life-changing decision in the last seconds of the show: she would demand sex from Brad while remaining married to Cooper. Although there have been various reactions to her decision, the cliffhanger finale strongly hints that season two is on the way.

To summarize, Sex/Life is based on BB Easton’s novel 44 Chapters About 4 Men and written by Stacy Rukeyser. Season one was about a love triangle involving a woman (Billie), her husband (Cooper), and her ex-boyfriend (Brad) – but the hot sex with the ex-boyfriend was all in Billie’s head and between the pages of her journal at the time. That is until her obsession increased and Brad began to try to reintroduce himself into her life.

Netflix presented it this way: “Billie Connelly (Sarah Shahi) wasn’t always a suburban stay-at-home wife and mother. Billie was a free-spirited wild child living in New York City with her closest friend Sasha (Margaret Odette), working hard and playing even harder before she married loving and loyal Cooper (Mike Vogel) and moved to Connecticut. Billie begins journaling and fantasizing about her passionate exploits with handsome ex-boyfriend Brad (Adam Demos), the enormous heartbreak she never got over, exhausted from taking care of her two small children and yearning for her past.

“But the more Billie thinks about it, the more she wonders how she ended up here – until her husband comes across her notebook. Will Billie’s prior revelations spark a sexual revolution in her marriage, or will they bring her back to the life she thought she’d left behind with the guy who broke her heart?”

Cooper was furious when he discovered Billie’s journal (spoiler alert! ), and they had a lot of ups and downs. Cooper was upset and desperate to repair his marriage, and Billie wasn’t sure what she wanted. Nonetheless, by the end of the episode, it appeared that Billie had chosen to stay with Cooper and the kids and embrace suburban motherhood while simultaneously returning to her studies and resuming her profession.

However, this is not the case! Billie returned to Brad with a fresh decision in a surprising twist at the conclusion. She made it clear that she won’t be leaving her husband, but that she wants to resume her sexual relationship with Brad after a decade apart.

Few TV series would conclude with the phrase “now f**k me,” but that’s Sex/Life for you.

Showrunner Stacy Rukeyser told TVLine, “It was always intended to be a surprising realization for Billy.” “She adores both of her children, but she lives in a world where other parents appear to be content with just this world, and that isn’t enough for her.” She wants to experience this other side of herself, this more sexual self, this wild or free side of herself.”

Season 2 of Sex/Life

What is Brad’s reaction to Billie’s suggestion? We don’t know for sure because season one ended before he had a chance to respond.

“I’m not sure what Brad is going to say to her,” Rukeyser remarked. He poured his heart out on the driveway and proposed to her a happily-ever-after, but that’s not what she’s proposing. I’m not sure whether Brad will agree or not. But that’s something we’re hoping to learn more about in season two.”

Demos, who plays Brad in the film, told The Cut: “I’m just not as clever as these writers and creators to come up with anything – whatever I can come up with will be a fraction of what they have planned. I believe that, given how the story finishes, anything may happen.”

Cooper might call it a day even if Billie doesn’t want to quit her marriage. He could see on his phone that his wife had gone to Manhattan – and obviously to Brad. That’s when he dialed his employer Francesca’s number, who has made it clear that she wants him to leave Billie and start dating her. Will Cooper break up with Billie? Or maybe he’ll have his affair? Maybe they’ll go for an open marriage?
