Am I Being Unreasonable? is a British comedy-thriller series created by and starring Daisy May Cooper and Selin Hizli. The story revolves around Nic, a mother trapped in a dismal marriage and mourning a loss she can’t share with anyone, except for her beloved son, Ollie. When Jen, a new school mum and kindred spirit, enters Nic’s life, she brings joy and laughter, but both women are hiding deep secrets.
One day, Nic wakes up feeling hungover and anxious about what she might have revealed to Jen while drinking. Despite her worries, Jen reassures her that she can confide in her about anything.
Meanwhile, Suzie arrives to discuss plans for a memorial for Alex, Nic’s late husband, with Dan. Nic wants to support Suzie, but Sue expresses discomfort over Nic’s close relationship with Alex.
As Dan watches his wedding video, he becomes emotional seeing Alex give a heartfelt speech. The next day, Jen comes over for a playdate, but Nic steps out for a moment. When she returns, she is startled to find the wedding video playing. This triggers a flashback to Nic’s wedding day, revealing that after the ceremony, she and Alex began an affair, a secret that continues to haunt her.

- I stumbled across this little gem when browsing for something different to watch. I am gkad I gound it, as it really hit the spot. I thought the combo of humour and horror was perfectly balanced. It was very well cast, well acted and kept me intrigued. The ending was unpredictable and shocking, although I was a little bewildered about Alex’s reasons but I still thougarily enjoyed the series. It left me wanting more and I hope a second season will be commissioned. The kids were great, especially. Ollie. I am sure others will agree he was the star of the show. I highly recommend this show to those who like a well acted dark comedy. 8/10
- Cooper & Hizli’s darkly twisted comedy about a toxic friendship, a toxic marriage and toxic secrets is an inconsistent beast and does not always hit the right mark, but a fantastic cast (particularly national-treasure-in-waiting Lenny Rush and the brilliantly unpleasant Dustin Demri-Burns) anchored by the two writer’s own magnetic presence and some smart unfolding mysteries keeps it very watchable throughout. Where the series can go from here is an intriguing prospect because it’s hard to argue with accusations that it didn’t quite tie everything (or, indeed, anything) up by the last episode. 7/10
