Savannah Chrisley Reminds Fans It's 'Perfectly Okay Not to Be Okay' Despite Family Strain
In a candid Instagram caption, the ‘Chrisley Knows Best’ alum stated that “every storm eventually runs out of rain.”
In the midst of her parents’ imprisonment, Savannah Chrisley is offering words of encouragement.
In an Instagram post on August 27, the 27-year-old Chrisley Knows Best alum, reminded her admirers that “it’s perfectly okay to not be okay.” This post was written more than 19 months after her parents, Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley, began their prison sentences following tax evasion and fraud convictions.
“Life is inherently messy, and no one truly has it all figured out! And those who claim otherwise are likely hiding their own struggles,” Savannah captioned an image of herself, soundtracked by Blessing Offor’s “Brighter Days.”
“Whether you’re grappling with heartbreak or feeling overwhelmed…remember that these moments are temporary,” she added. “Just as every storm eventually runs out of rain, your current challenges will also pass. During tough times, YOU HAVE TO be kind to yourself and seek support from those who care.”
Savannah then encouraged her supporters to “focus on small, manageable steps to navigate your difficulties” and to “keep in mind that growth often comes from overcoming adversity.”
“Embrace the process of healing, knowing that brighter days are ahead! #hopeinthedark #yourdayiscoming,” she concluded the caption.
In January 2023, Savannah’s parents commenced their prison sentences: 12 years for Todd and eight years for Julie. Todd’s sentence has been reduced by two years since that time, and Julie’s appeal was successful.
Her sentence was vacated after federal justices determined that her case lacked sufficient evidence. She is scheduled to be resentenced later this month.
In August 2019, a federal grand jury indicted the couple on 12 counts of conspiracy, tax evasion, and bank and wire fraud. They have maintained their innocence and were acquitted of the state tax evasion charge in Georgia. Before being sentenced to a combined 19-year prison term in 2022, they were convicted in a federal court in October 2019.
In August, Savannah, who has since assumed guardianship of her siblings Grayson, 18, and Chloe, 11, disclosed on her podcast Unlocked that her 20s have been “difficult” during her 27th birthday celebrations.
“I’ve had a lot of hurt, a lot of trauma, a lot of just downhill, just downhill,” she said at the time. “So I’m going to save the celebrations for 30 and on. I am going to use my 20s as my building years to hopefully get to where I wanna get to.”
Savannah also considered the manner in which she now commemorates milestones in the absence of her parents during the podcast.
“I will say for my birthday, my mom has always been the one to make my birthday so special, to celebrate it, and it’s really hard not having her here,” she said. “
Holidays suck in general when you have a loved one that is not here with you, whether that person has passed away or you just don’t have the ability to be together on a day to day basis or really communicate that well.”
“We were just given a really crappy hand of cards,” the reality star added. “So I am going to continue to see this through. I’m going to continue to see that the people that were involved in our case are held responsible.”
On September 25, Savannah’s mother, Julie, will receive a new sentence. Savannah has been experiencing “repeated dreams” of her mother at home.
“I look at 27, and there’s so many things I hope to happen,” she said on the podcast. “I hope and pray that mom and dad come home. I hope and pray that I have the ability to make lasting change. I know that I’m working with my lawyers and another group of people to put some initiatives in place that I have come up with.”
