Sanya Malhotra: Shakuntala Devi and Dangal are thematically different

Sanya Malhotra, a prominent actress in Bollywood has done her first debut film, Dangal. A Delhi born actress who also participated in Dance in Dance to take the stage on the next level. She loves dancing, especially contemporary & ballet forms. Most of us have seen her flicks, Dangal & Shakuntala Devi by now. 

Let’s find out why the roles are divergent in the debut & the latest movies of Sanya.

 Dangal was inspired by true events in which Sanya has played a character of Babita Phoghat, a wrestler. It covered an amazing journey of a father who does everything to make her daughters a wrestler. 

Indeed, Dangal is truly based on actual events, whereas Shakuntala Devi is a Biopic. “We have never met Geeta & Babita in real, however, we played the character freely & tried our best to showcase the events of their lives”, Sanya said in an interview. She completely agrees that Biopics are not easy to amend in any form. One needs to stick with the facts, events, appearance, etc. while casting the biopic.

 Hence, both movies are thematically different from each other.

Although, she is trying hard to find a script wherein she can act & dance at the same time. “ I am 100% sure that I will find a perfect script in which I can act & dance both one day”, she mentioned PTI.

It’s been a great journey by Sanya Malhotra so far performing versatile roles in all movies. Sanya is recently seen in Shakuntala Devi where she performed as Anupama Banerji, daughter of Shakuntala (acted by Vidya Balan). It is currently streaming on Amazon prime video. 

 As per the sources, Sanya can be seen in the upcoming movie of Anurag Basu, i.e Ludo. Fans are still waiting to see her dance & acting performance on a single screen.
