Three months after Niall Horan admitted to having a crush on the “Skin of My Teeth” singer, Demi Lovato appeared to confirm their burgeoning affair in an interview with Tiger Beat in October 2012. “He is a great listener and makes me laugh a lot, two of the most important qualities I look for in a partner… We enjoy having dinner together when the opportunity arises, and we speak and message frequently.”
A few weeks later, though, Lovato revealed to Seventeen that their relationship was completely platonic. The Camp Rock star stated at the time, “I think Niall is really, super wonderful, and we’ve become good friends. In a May 2013 interview with Company magazine, Lovato refuted the romantic allegations more firmly. “I’ve had enough of it!” It never occurred. “He’s a sweet child and we have an understanding, but we’re just friends,” the former X-Factor judge stated. “He’s a sweet person and we have an understanding, but we’re just friends.”
Ellie Goulding
The “Love Me Like You Do” singer dated Horan briefly in 2013; their relationship rapidly generated rumors that Goulding had left Ed Sheeran for “This Town” singer Horan. In a June 2015 interview with Ellie U.K., she offered her side of the tale, stating, “I did go on a few dates with Niall, but I was never in a relationship with Ed. I have no idea where that came from or why it was made such a huge deal.”
One year later, Goulding told Seventeen that she and Horan were still friendly with one another. She stated at the time, “He’s a really, really nice man.”

Horan was photographed holding hands with the model in December 2013, but The Sun reported only a few short months after that they had broken up. The “Dangerous Woman” singer fueled dating speculations after she was caught leaving Horan’s London home in June 2015. These rumors grew when Horan was spotted at her hotel a few days later. However, Grande dismissed the rumors during an interview with the Sun on Sunday in the United Kingdom later that month.
