National Geographic announces Dev Patel-narrated series India from Above Everything you need to know about the highly diverse nation and its culture in a series.

Dev Patel’s love for India comes as no surprise. The actor has often expressed his awe and fascination for the unglazed and authentic India. Thus, when news of the British actor narrating for a National Geographic series on India released, frankly, we weren’t surprised. 

The National Geographic series that will showcase India in all its geographical, cultural, technological and historical glory is titled India from Above and will see Patel as the narrator to commemorate the country’s 73rd Independence Day. 

All about the series:

The series India from Above will be a two-part series that has been shot across one year and four seasons, across different topographies. The show will air on August 14 and 15 and bring out the beautiful amalgamation of the country’s mystic roots and modern times. It will also highlight the natural wonders of India.

With the use of cutting-edge technology and aerial cinematography, the show is bound to appeal to the masses. Not to mention, having the Academy nominated star talk about the diversely celebrated country will further be a visual and auditory treat.  

What to expect:

If you’re still not convinced, during a National Geographic press release, a spokesperson of the show revealed that the show will encompass everything from Kumbh festival, i.e., the world’s largest religious gathering to the vast Kamuthi Solar Power Project that provides clean power to more than 2 lakh homes. Truly, a sight to sore eyes. 

The show will also focus on the country’s efforts to preserve its unique and culturally rich heritage with avant-garde techniques and 4K drone footage. Encompassing the lives of 1.3 billion people of the country, the series will glorify diverse and secular facets of the country and bring out the beautiful co-existence of cultures.

The series that is a joint production between National Geographic UK and Line Production will be released across 172 countries and in 43 languages and is sure to make your heart swell with immense pride

India from Above is part of the From Above franchise that has previously also documented Europe, China and Japan. 

Dev Patel’s recent endeavors:

The 30-year-old was recently nominated for his role in the Amazon Prime Video series Modern Love for a Prime Time Emmy Award for Guest Actor in a Comedy. He will be seen next in a historical drama directed by David Lowery titled The Green Knight. 

The actor made his breakthrough with Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire in 2008 and was nominated for an Academy Award for his splendid performance in the 2016 film Lion directed by Garth Davis. He was last seen on the big screen in The Personal History of David Copperfield playing the titular role of David Copperfield.
