The Plot of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story
Monster chronicles the life of one of America's most notorious serial killers, Jeffrey Dahmer, and dives deeply into the ineptitude and indifference of American police officers that allowed the Wisconsin native to continue a multiyear killing rampage.
The series dramatizes at least ten occasions when Dahmer was on the point of being apprehended but was ultimately released. The show will also highlight the subject of white privilege, as Dahmer, a well-groomed, attractive white guy, was regularly given the benefit of the doubt by police and courts after being accused of minor offenses.
Who Cast in Netflix's Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story?
Evan Peters and Niecy Nash are the two major stars in this latest Murphy effort. Peters portrays Dahmer, the notorious serial killer responsible for the murder and dismemberment of 17 young men and boys. Nash portrays Dahmer's neighbor, Glenda Cleveland. The actual Cleveland complained repeatedly about Dahmer's odd behavior and even called the police after discovering one of his victims. She was consistently disregarded.
Jeffrey's parents are portrayed by Penelope Ann Miller (Carlito's Way, The Artist) and Richard Jenkins (The Shape of Water, The Visitor). Molly Ringwald (The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles) portrays his stepmother Shari Dahmer. In addition, Monster features Michael Learned (The Waltons) as Catherine Dahmer, Shaun J. Brown (The Dropout, Dave) as Tracy Edwards, one of Dahmer's victims who led to his eventual apprehension, and Colin Ford (We Bought a Zoo) as Chazz.
What Should You Expect From Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story?
The miniseries Dahmer- Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story will investigate the story of the infamous serial murderer from the eyes of his various victims. Dahmer was very young before he began to exhibit questionable habits and interests; hence, the program will also explore his childhood and family life.
Konerak Sinthasomphone was the sole victim of Dahmer to escape and call the police to report that his life was in danger. After dismissing the conflict as a “lover's dispute,” the cops returned him to Dahmer's doorstep. The fourteen-year-old victim was discovered dead inside Dahmer's refrigerator after being abandoned by police for less than an hour.
Handed that the description of the police officer's terrible handling of the case was released shortly after Dahmer was given fifteen consecutive life sentences without parole in 1992, the limited series will likely center on this particular victim and his family.
A background inquiry on Dahmer may have revealed that he was a sexual offender with a 1988 record of child sex assault against Konerak's older brother, who was thirteen years old at the time. If the police had taken the Sinthasomphone family's accusations seriously, at least some of Dahmer's victims could have been rescued.
