Mekhi Phifer is an American actor who is best known for his roles on ER as Doctor Greg Pratt and in the feature film adaption of Shakespeare’s Othello “O.”

Mekhi Phifer was born on December 29th, 1974 in Harlem, New York City. He is the son of Rhoda Phifer, who raised him alone while working as a high school teacher. He won an open casting call for Spike Lee’s 1995 film Clockers, where he played a drug dealer caught up in a murder cover-up. Phifer followed it up with the lighthearted satire High School High.
Phifer was cast in the screamer film I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, alongside Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt. He appeared on ER as Dr. Pratt and in Torchwood: Miracle Day as Agent Collins. He appears in the 2014 science fiction film Divergent.
