Mark Esper Net Worth: Why Did Donald Trump Fire Mark Esper From His Cabinet?
Mark Esper is an American politician and business leader who was born on April 26, 1964. His real name is Mark Thomas Esper. From 2019 to 2020, he was the 27th United States Secretary of defence. He was a member of the Republican Party, and from November 2017 to July 2019, he was the 23rd U.S. Secretary of the Army.
Esper was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, on April 26, 1964. His parents are Pauline “Polly” Reagan and Thomas Joseph Esper. His father belonged to the Maronite Church. His father’s grandfather came from Lebanon, and his uncle, George Esper, was a war reporter.
Esper finished high school in 1982 at Laurel Highlands High School near Uniontown, Pennsylvania. In 1986, the United States Military Academy gave him a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. At West Point, Esper was on the Dean’s List and won the Douglas MacArthur Award for Leadership.
In 1995, he got a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard Kennedy School. In 2008, he got a doctorate in public policy from George Washington University.
Esper went to West Point and then joined the US Army. He was an infantry officer in the 101st Airborne Division during the Gulf War. Esper later joined the 82nd Airborne Division and the Army National Guard.
After leaving the military, he worked as the chief of staff at the Heritage Foundation, as a staffer for Congress, as a deputy assistant secretary of defence, and as a senior executive for the Aerospace Industries Association, the Global Intellectual Property Center, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Before joining the Trump administration, Esper worked as the vice president of government relations for the defence company Raytheon.
In 2017, he became the 23rd secretary of the Army in the Trump administration. In 2019, Esper was named acting defence secretary. Shortly after, the United States Senate voted 90–8 to confirm him as the 27th defence secretary. On November 9, 2020, President Trump fired him through a tweet.
What is Mark Esper’s Net Worth?
According to Forbes, Mark had a net worth of $5 Million before he was fired. He also gets money from other sources, like the $1 million he has saved in a Raytheon deferred compensation plan and the more than $1.1 million he has in mutual funds and bond funds.
The only way to know how Mark’s bank statements will change because of his recent firing is to wait and see. But one thing is certain: the former cabinet minister has a lot of financial planning to do.
Trump Fires Mark Esper From His Cabinet
Donald Trump thinks that all Republicans should make a lot of money. He pays all of the people who work for him very well, but not his cabinet ministers. Not only do they not get paid as well as other officials, but they also don’t have stable jobs.
According to Forbes, “In just two and a half years, the president has replaced 12 of his 23 cabinet positions—some more than once. The current lineup includes 17 millionaires, 2 cent millionaires, and 1 billionaire.”
Trump chose the lobbyist to replace James Mattis in 2020, after Patrick Shanahan, a former Boeing executive, quit the job. Since Mark also got replaced, it’s a great example of how karma works.
But they can’t really complain when they look at how their boss just lost the US 2020 elections. Even though he didn’t want to lose to Joe Biden, the new 46th president of the United States, he tweeted:
“Mark Esper has been terminated. I would like to thank him for his service,” Trump said on Twitter, announcing his replacement by Christopher Miller, the current head of the National Counterterrorism Center.”
