Netflix will release another opulent adventure series, The Letter for The King Season 2, for the binge-watching population in Spring 2020.
Netflix managed to give the coming-of-age adventure series partially inspired by Tonke Dragt's 1962 classic Dutch novel De brief voor de Koning Game of Thrones vibes.
The first season had only six episodes, and fans, particularly those who watched the show in six hours or less, are asking if a second season will be released soon.
Has ‘The Letter For The King' Been Renewed For Season 2?
Netflix has not yet renewed The Letter for the King for a second season. March 20, 2020, was the date that Netflix released Season 1.
At least a month is required for Netflix to decide whether or not to renew a show. After all that time since the show premiered, we still don't know anything about season 2 of the series.
Graham said in an exclusive interview with Digital Spy in March 2021 that they had not heard anything from Netflix at all.
In regards to a possible second season, “We haven't heard a yes or no,” she remarked, adding:
The fact that the answer hasn't been a resounding “no” is a good sign, and I'm sure that all of us would return if the opportunity arose. As far as I can tell, there's a lot to see and do in that world.
We had hoped that the medieval adventure series would be resurrected because of the interest it was receiving on social media.
Season 2's release date is currently unknown due to the show's potential renewal.
When Will Season 2 of the Letter for the King Be Released?
According to Lopper Currently, Netflix has not yet announced whether or not they will be airing a second season of The Letter for the King. Even though the first season of COVID-19 was released over a year ago, it has upended nearly every film and television production, thus the apparent slow response isn't necessarily a disadvantage.
Thaddea Graham, who plays Iona, chatted with Digital Spy in March of this year about the status of The Letter of the King, which premiered in January. Of a hypothetical second season, Graham stated: “There hasn't been a definitive yes or no. I assume that's a good thing, and I think we'd all like to go back, because who doesn't want to ride a horse and play swords?”
The show's plot, according to Graham, has “a lot to explore,” so maybe we'll hear more about the show's future in the coming months.
Who Will Appear in Season 2 of the Letter for the King?
If The Letter for the King is renewed for a second season, we can anticipate all of the major characters to return – with a couple of exceptions. Jussipo (Jonah Lees) is stabbed and eventually dies during a brawl. Furthermore, the ruthless prince and primary antagonist Prince Viridian (Gijs Blom) has been defeated by the prophecy's hero, Lavinia (Ruby Ashbourne Serkis).
Aside from Jussipo's terrible death and Viridian's cathartic demise, all of the other important characters, including our protagonist Tiuri, are still alive and well. Tiuri becomes allies with Lavinia, an aspiring cartographer who is evading marriage off to a wealthy family, as he becomes engrossed in the trek to deliver the letter. Soon after, Iona (Thaddea Graham) joins the quest, but subsequently deserts them by joining their adversaries, the Red Riders. Foldo (Jack Barton), Arman (Islam Bouakkaz), and the now-deceased Jussipo are some of the other loyal allies.
We can probably expect all of the primary cast members whose characters survived the first season to return for a potential season two.
What Is the Plot of Letter for the King Season 2?
The first season provided an excellent starting point for season 2. Tiuri successfully delivered the letter to King Unauwen. Lavinia vanquished Prince Viridian. Tiuri and his team were transformed into full-fledged knights upon their return to Dagonaut towards the end of the first season.
Toward the end of the event, a flock of Starlings soared overhead, revealing Prince Viridian's face. This strongly hints that the evil Prince is not finished with the young knights. Vengeance is looming ahead, and we may expect to see more of it if the show is renewed.
Fans were also dissatisfied by Tiuri's lack of magical abilities in the first season. However, there are also rumors that Tiuri (because of his Eviellan ancestry) possesses dormant powers that will manifest themselves in the upcoming season. With Lavinia proving to be the prophesied hero, we're curious to see how Tiuri's character will aid Lavinia battle the merciless Prince in the future.
The showrunners are also likely to be inspired by the sequel to the Dutch classic, The Secrets of the Wild Wood. However, it is worth mentioning that Netflix has modified a few of the major events from the novel to the onscreen series.
