Knights of Sidonia (Shidonia no Kishi in Japanese), based on the outstanding manga series of Tsutomu Nihei, is a mecha, space opera series tv series. The series focuses on the protagonist Nagate Tanikaze, an inhabitant of a huge spacecraft Sidonia. He became a Grade pilot to save the Sidonia and its native from a hostile alien force called Gauna. The manga began serialization in Monthly Afternoon magazine in April 2009. It finished its journey in September 2015.
Polygon Pictures adapted the manga as anime television series that first premiered from April to June 2014. The series was widely acclaimed. Consequently, the second season aired from April to June 2015, and an anime film was released on March 6, 2015. Fans are eagerly waiting for the third installment since then. Knights of Sidonia season 2 ended on June 27, 2015. More than five years have elapsed since then, and still, there is no official announcement regarding the renewal of the series. However, an anime movie having the title Knights of Sidonia: Ai Tsumugu Hoshi is scheduled to release on May 14, 2021.
The creators have adopted different timelines for anime from the manga and covered almost 37 chapters out of 78. Enough source material is left to make another 2 seasons. Therefore, we hope that we will see season 3 but not any time sooner.
The Cast of Knights of Sidonia Season 3. Who Will Be In It?
The showrunners have not revealed the official cast for season 3. However, we are sure some main characters will return for sure, that includes-
Nagate Tanikaze: He is the main protagonist of the series. He was a pure human living amidst genetically engineered Sidonia. He is always discriminated against since childhood. In spite of all the discrimination, he becomes the commander of the army to protect Sidonia. Later it is shown that he is also genetically engineered to be immortal and he is a clone of the Sidonian hero, Saitou Hiroki. He is an exceptional combatant.
Shizuka Hoshijiro: She is another main character. She is the second-best trainee after Nagate. Later She falls in love with Nagate and they become a couple. Later she lost her life to Gauna while saving her life of Gauna.

Izana Shinatose: She is another main character and guardian pilot. She becomes Nagate’s best friend. She is the kind of the third gender in genetically engineered humans. She has the ability to convert herself into a male or a female. As the story progress, she develops feeling for Nagate and becomes a full-fledged female.
The Plot of Knights of Sidonia Season 3. What To Expect from It?
The story takes you 1000 years ahead of time and revolves around the protagonist Nagate. He lived in Sidonia and was arrested by police for the crime of theft. Later he was offered to become a grade pilot whose mission is to protect the Sidonia from the aliens known as Gauna. They were the same aliens who were responsible for the destruction of the earth, but anybody had not seen them for years. They were very powerful. The only way to kill them is to cut the Placenta outside their core. Throughout the series, we saw the fight between the grade pilots and Gauna and saw how Nagate released his abilities and became much more powerful.
