Jordan Haworth Peele was in New York City on February 21, 1979. Peele is the son of Hayward Peele and Lucinda Williams. He was reared by his single mother on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. White is his mother's race, whereas black is his father's. Peele attended the Computer School in Manhattan, The Calhoun School on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and Sarah Lawrence College.
Career Breakthrough
He began performing improv in Chicago with Boom Chicago and Second City. In the early 2000s, he presented “Comedy Weekend” on MTV. In 2003, he was cast in the successful sketch comedy series MADtv, where he met Keegan-Michael Key for the first time.

Jordan gained note for his superb impersonations of Ja Rule, James Brown, Justin Guarini, and Barack Obama, among others, during his time on the show. Additionally, he was nominated for an Emmy for his song “Sad Fifty Cent.” He appeared in five seasons of the show.
He later co-starred in the pilot for “The Station” and began appearing on “Children's Hospital” in recurrent roles. In 2012, he and Keegan-Michael Key began starring in their own Comedy Central show titled “Key and Peele.” Key and Peele aired 53 episodes over 5 seasons before its cancellation in 2015. The program received three awards: two Primetime Emmys and a Peabody.
Peele and Key created, produced, and starred in the 2016 film “Keanu.” In 2017, Jordan debuted as a filmmaker with “Get Out.” He also authored and produced the film, which cost $4.5 million to make. The film was an instant hit, and Jordan became the first black writer-director to gross more than $100 million with his first film.
Eventually, the film would gross $255 million worldwide. At the 2018 Academy Awards, “Get Out” was nominated for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Picture. He was awarded the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. He was nominated for an additional Academy Award for producing the picture “BlacKkKlansman.” The 2019 film “Us,” which he wrote, directed, and produced, grossed $255 million on a budget of $20 million.
Universal Accord
Jordan inked a new contract with Universal Pictures on October 1, 2019, that will keep his production firm at the studio for five years. The contract is rumored to have the potential to be a “nine-figure” transaction comparable to the $300-$400 million deals that other producers have negotiated around the same period. In contrast to other transactions, Jordan's funds are not paid in advance. Instead, it is paid annually based on several milestones, with a substantial base and the potential for a very significant bonus.
