The plot follows former assassin John Wick as he tries to track down the individuals who broke into his house, stole his classic automobile, and killed his dog, a present from his recently deceased wife. Chad Stahelski and David Leitch co-directed the picture, however only Stahelski received credit.
The story is partially based on an occurrence in Texas involving former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, who wrote Lone Survivor, about his fireteam's struggle in Afghanistan during Operation Red Wings in 2005. Luttrell received a yellow labrador puppy, which he named DASY after the members of his fire team.
The first official trailer for the fourth installment of Keanu Reeves' John Wick series has finally been released. Following a landmark premiere at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), Lionsgate once again threw down the gauntlet by releasing a one-minute teaser for John Wick 4, filled with exotic locales, incredible choreography, and (hopefully) a plot that isn't too important. The film is scheduled for release on March 24, 2023.
With the release of the first trailer for John Wick 4, we get an idea of how ambitious the film will be. Crossing borders and taking viewers on a whirlwind tour of the United States, France, Japan, Jordan, and Germany, the teaser depicts Reeves charged with the difficult responsibility of bringing down the High Table, instantly beginning up where the third film left off.
Fans will recall that the previous installment concluded with a wounded John Wick reluctantly teaming forces with Laurence Fishburne's Bowery King in an effort to redeem his guilt and restore order to the world of assassins.
Keanu Reeves reprises his role as the titular hitman with a heart in John Wick: Chapter 4, with franchise veterans Fishburne, Ian McShane, and Lance Reddick also returning. Donnie Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, and for the first time in the series, IT heartthrob Bill Skarsgrd will join them.
The new film will once again be directed by Chad Stahelski, who previously outlined what viewers may anticipate from the brutal new confrontation.
In a May interview with Collider, he said, “I think Chapter 4 is a nice continuation of all three prior films, and it has a bit of a finale, which is great.” “We introduce a large number of new people that have much to say about John Wick's past and present. I believe it is fraternity and hope. It's what life would be like if John experienced an existential crisis, and I believe that's the most entertaining aspect of the film.”
The debut of the trailer has been a long time coming for fans of the action genre. John Wick: Chapter 4 has been in production since 2021, with filming taking place in multiple places. Lionsgate made the difficult choice to postpone the premiere in reaction to the COVID-19 epidemic, but Stahelski has confirmed that the final product will feature the signature John Wick action.
“Keanu has acquired some new skill sets, which is positive. He informed Collider that his new props are fantastic. “We were fortunate enough to attract some of the most intriguing stunt teams in the world. And each stunt team from the various countries, including the Japanese stunt team, the French stunt team, and the Bulgarian stunt team, has a unique style of motion, which I believe also helps to vary the set pieces. When there are so many various experts and martial arts, we are compelled to change the choreography to demonstrate a variety of things. It's enjoyable.”
In addition to the upcoming sequel, Lionsgate has also confirmed a spin-off film titled Ballerina, with Bond girl Ana de Armas set to play the lead, and the much-discussed spinoff series The Continental is set to premiere on Starz, with Colin Woodell portraying a younger version of McShane's Winston Scott. Mel Gibson, an Oscar-winning actor, and action legend is also poised to join the series, bringing a great amount of star power to the small screen.
On March 24, 2023, John Wick: Chapter 4 will be released in theatres. Above is the first official trailer for the highly anticipated new action film.
