The Alienist Season 3

The Alienist: Angel of Darkness has been on TNT for quite some time, with the dramatic climax showing on August 9, 2020.

Unfortunately, there has been no word on whether The Alienist season 3 will be greenlit or canceled by the network. Typically, if a series is popular enough to merit another chapter, networks are eager to keep the momentum continuing.

Obviously, the previous year has been exceptionally tough for the film and television industries, so it’s plausible that TNT is waiting till normalcy is a bit closer before releasing The Alienist season 3.

The Alienist Season 3 Storyline

The Alienist Season 3

If TNT approves The Alienist season 3, it’s probable that the show’s writers may venture into the new ground rather than the next novel from Caleb Carr.

Surrender, New York, the third novel in the Kreizler series, is set in the current day rather than the nineteenth century and follows Dr. Trajan Jones as he introduces his controversial tactics to a rural village. The only true connection between the characters from the first two volumes is that Jones is an authority on Kreizler’s life and career.

However, as Variety revealed in 2017, Fox has already commissioned Surrender, New York for a series. It’s conceivable that the rights have changed hands in the period since the project’s creation, although this seems improbable at the present. If TNT does convert Surrender, New York into The Alienist season 3, it could simply employ flashbacks to the original actors to assist illustrate its present plot.

If not, the writers would have to come up with an altogether new premise for the series or focus on other members of the supporting cast. Our option? Give Bitsy Sussman the limelight as she takes over the detective agency from Sara Howard. Unfortunately, only time will tell if TNT wants to see more of The Alienist.
