On the Netflix show Perfect Match, former reality stars got together and competed to be named the “Perfect Match.” But with all the drama in season 1, fans are wondering if the dating experiment is real or just made up. Read on to learn if Perfect Match is real, fake, or scripted.
What Does “Perfect Match” Mean?
Reality TV stars who were single paired up to compete against other couples in different compatibility challenges to see which pair is the “most compatible.” After each challenge, the winning couple went on a private date away from the villa and got to choose two new singles to join the game and shake things up by sending them on dates with members of other couples. Every time a new person joins the competition, the singles are paired up again, and the last person standing is sent home.
In the end, all of the reality stars come back for one last shakeup before the final five pairs are chosen and one is voted the “Perfect Match.”
In the first season of the Netflix dating competition, the winners were Dom Gabriel from The Mole and Georgia Hassarati from Too Hot to Handle. They beat out Joey Sasso from The Circle and Are You The One? alum Kariselle Snow.
Is “Perfect Match” Scripted?
Some reality TV shows are heavily influenced by the producers, and some are even completely scripted. One of the stars of Perfect Match talked about how real the dating experiment was.
“Everyone was themselves, and no one was told what to say or do,” Savannah Palacio told Distractify on February 23. During season 1, she was one of the villains because of her plan and fight with co-star Francesca Farago. “As for me, I know that I made my own decisions on that show, whether they were good or bad. I mean, I chose to do those things. I said everything myself. No one told me what to say, and nothing was written down.
The former member of The Circle went on to say that the stars chose their own dates, but that producers “had a hand in editing” and “maybe stirred the pot.”
Even though Savannah said that fans flooded the comments after a viewer posted a clip that seemed to show inconsistent editing because Francesca’s headband moved around in one scene.
“Anyone else notices this while watching Perfect Match? It’s supposed to be a contest, so at least act like it! “[sic],” the viewer wrote as a caption for a TikTok video they shared.
Francesca heard about the argument and went to the comments to clear things up.
“During the middle of this, my headband fell off, and I picked it up off the floor and put it back on because my hair was a MESS. “They just took that part out,” she wrote below the post. “I don’t know why they changed it this way, but this part wasn’t changed or anything. It just fell off, which is why it ended up all messed up on my head.”
