I believe it is natural to expect The Irregulars’ second season to address some of these issues. As of season 1, the Rip was fully explained, which means there’s probably not going to be a second season of that storyline. In the episode, Sherlock went into the Rip with Jessie and Bea’s mother, Alice (Eileen O’Higgins).
It’s not clear how he will get back and whether the girls will see their mother again. Because The Rip caused a lot of supernatural things to happen in London, it’s not clear where the new threat will come from. Of course, it wouldn’t be a successful season without one.
