In recent years, the short-form video platform TikTok has become one of the most popular social media platforms and is frequently the source of the internet’s most viral phenomena.
With so many users, the app has created a variety of inside jokes, memes, and references that frequently occur in comment sections throughout the app. This comprises numerous slang terms or acronyms, such as FYP, PFP,’ mid,’ and others. Additionally, “Ib” may refer to International Baccalaureate courses.
Some TikTok videos tagged with #ib have nothing to do with being “inspired by” the work of others. They carry the #ib tag because they provide information about International Baccalaureate (IB) courses. IB classes are comparable to AP (or Advanced Placement) classes in that they allow high school students to obtain college credit before enrolling.
If you ask IB students about the program, they will likely describe how rigorous and challenging it is, as well as how their classes are far more complex than AP classes. There are IB classes in six subject groups (Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, and The Arts) plus a class called Theory of Knowledge.
IB students must complete courses in all six subject areas and Theory of Knowledge in order to get their diploma and college credit (assuming the schools they apply to give credit for IB classes).
It makes reasonable that the majority of IB-related TikTok videos focus on the students’ challenging coursework. It does appear to be a really rigorous way of instruction (especially now, when a lot of students are taking their IB courses online instead of in person).
