How Many Episodes Will Be There in the TV Series The Last of Us?

One of 2023’s most eagerly awaited TV shows, The Last of Us, is finally about to premiere, allowing viewers who haven’t been able to play the videogame to share Joel and Ellie’s journey across the zombie-infested wasteland of America.
The Last of Us is under a lot of strain since fans have extremely high expectations for the franchise. Still, critics have praised the horror series since it debuted. How long will the thriller series last? The first season will adapt the full of the first game in The Last of Us duology and introduce us to Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey).
How Many Episodes Will There Be in the Last of Us?
There will be nine episodes in The Last of Us’ first season. The first episode of The Last of Us will show on January 15, and the final episode will run on March 13. There are thus still four episodes to go.
Although nine episodes may seem like a strange quantity, season 1 was originally scheduled to have 10. After a certain dramatic event, Episode 1 was planned to close with only a fleeting glimpse of Ellie. HBO thought this was a poor concept and didn’t provide viewers with an incentive to watch the episode again.
Instead, episodes 1 and 2 were combined to create one episode in which Joel properly introduces Ellie to the audience. The episode-related podcast from HBO features a reflection on that choice by the showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. They add that, overall, integrating the two episodes was a sensible approach.
- Episode 1 — “When You’re Lost in the Darkness” — January 15
- Episode 2 — “Infected” — January 22
- Episode 3 — “Long Long Time” — January 29
- Episode 4 — “Please Hold My Hand” — February 5
- Episode 5 — “Endure and Survive” — February 12
- Episode 6 — February 19
- Episode 7 — February 26
- Episode 8 — March 5
- Episode 9 — March 12
