Valentine Day comes after 6 loving and romantic days of the week with different events. In some areas, couples talk a walk to the forest and exchange wooden spoons that are called ‘Love Spoons’ to signify love.

Now, there are various countries where they celebrate Valentine in different ways. They use different and attractive ways to celebrate or make the week more fascinating for all the fans:


Here, the Argentines set aside an entire week to celebrate “Sweetness Week”. At that time kisses are exchanged for sweet treats.

2. Bulgaria

On 14th February, Bulgarians celebrate St. Trifon Zarezan Day, also known as Winemakers Day. On this day, couples tend to express their love for each other with a glass of delicious wine.

3.South Korea

All South Koreans celebrate love on 44th of every month, not just February. These include May’s Rose Day, June’s Kiss Day, and December’s Hug Day & April’s Black Day.

4. Romania

The people of Romania celebrate Valentine Day on 24th February, known as ‘The Day the birds are betrothed’. It is the combination of Valentine Day and spring. On this day both girls and boys pick flowers and wash their face in snow to get health and happiness.

5.South Africa

In South Africa, Valentine Day is based on an ancient festival in which young women pins the name of their crush on their sleeves.


Dia das Namarados, the day of lovers is celebrated on 12th June. On this day, single women perform all the rituals with the expectation of getting married.

7. Czech Republic

Czech lovers celebrate Valentine Day on 1st May. Here, many couples make a pilgrimage to the statue of poet Karel Hynek Macha. All couples kiss beneath the cherry blossom to bring good luck for the next year.

8. St. Valentin, France

From 12th to 14th February, these days are also known as ‘Village of Love’ that gives the sign of romance. The people decorate houses with roses, trees with love notes. Some of them marriage proposal and they have the chance to plant their own lovers.

9.Miao, South West China

On Sister’s Meal Festival, women cook different colorful rice dishes that are wrapped in silk. The fate of relationship depends on the item found within the rice. As two chopsticks mean love and a clove of garlic means the romance is over before being started.


The Welsh celebrate love on 25th January as St. Dwynwen’s Day. Wooden spoons known as love spoons are exchanged between lovers.


The Chinese festival of love is known as Qixi. It takes place on 7th day of the 7th month of the Chinese calendar. It comes from the tale of two star crossed lovers. Also, on this day couples pray for prosperity.


in Ghana, 14th February is also known by the name, National Chocolate Day. On this day, special chocolate themed menus, exhibitions and talks can be found in all parts of the country.

14.Valencia, Spain

In Valencia, the most romantic day falls on 9th October, called the day of Saint Dionysius. Many festivals and parades organised to mark this festival. Men offer a Mocadora to their partner as a token of love.


On 14th February, friendship or romantic love is celebrated. The same happens in Finland known as Ystavan Paiva.

In Japan, men receive gifts of chocolate. It happened on 14th March.
