Hope Street is a criminal drama now streaming on BBC1 and BritBox, and it is the newest creation of Paul Marquess and Donna Wiffen of Long Story TV.
The focus of the show is the fictional Northern Ireland coastal town of Port Devine’s police department. Paul Marquess stated of the series, “After over 30 years of creating theatre in England, I am ecstatic to be returning home to film Hope Street.”

The debut of Hope Street aired on BBC1 in Northern Ireland on November 24, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. The tenth and last episode was broadcast on February 2, 2022.
The series premiered on BBC1 in other areas on January 31 and aired the same weekdays. If you prefer to binge-watch Hope Street, you may do so on BBC iPlayer. On January 31, 2022, the series premiered exclusively on BritBox in the United States.
The Plotline of Hope Street
Hope Street takes place in Port Devine, a tranquil beach village in Northern Ireland. The plot centers around the unanticipated arrival of DC Leila Hussain (Amara Karan). Leila is the town’s first Muslim police officer and an Englishwoman.
According to the BBC, the series would “highlight the town’s warm-hearted and good-humored residents as they construct a future together, rather than lingering on the differences of the past.”
Each episode is a stand-alone crime story, but the show also follows the ups and downs of the force’s members as they deal with day-to-day police work in Port Devine.

Hope street filming sets
Hope Street was filmed entirely in Donaghadee, County Down, Northern Ireland, a coastal town noted for its lighthouse, picturesque harbor, and Copeland Gin distillery.
Since the 17th century, Donaghadee has been a port of call for ships, and the local flora and fauna can be observed from The Copeland Bird Observatory on Lighthouse Island.
Hope Street was filmed at the Donaghadee Motto, the lighthouse, the harbor, and the adjacent farms and residential districts.
