Reviews

The show was received well as it had more viewership than House of Cards in its first weekend which is a benchmark in itself. But after that, there was an average response for the show. It was said that the show did cross a line when it comes to societal expectations.

Just because the genre is horror, it doesn’t mean that the entire show can do anything they want in order to scare people. There is a line and Hemlock Grove crossed it in the first season itself. The show is scary and it makes you squeamish but isn’t that what horror shows should be like? A question that some critics did ask.

Hemlock Grove Season 4

But if one does ignore the unnecessary blood and taboo concepts, the show’s story wasn’t that great and the entire theme looked a little bit chaotic and dragged. The pace was not at all intriguing and it didn’t help. Although the show was scary, it wasn’t entertaining. It doesn’t make you feel satisfied.

But there is a fanbase for the show and they are waiting for a fourth season while others are just sure that Season 3 was the end.

Conclusion

The show is a frightening amalgamation of all things horror weaved carelessly together to create a broken story of a disheveled fictional town. The people who are fans of gothic tropes definitely had a gala time with the three seasons while a lot of viewers were just a little horrified because of the blatant display of unnecessary blood and gore that wasn’t required. A better script would have done wonders for this otherwise average show. But if you love horror, this show is a must watch.
