Due to what fans are calling a “feud” with Selena Gomez, Hailey Bieber has lost almost a million Instagram followers.
It all started in January when photos of Selena in a bikini on New Year’s Eve were posted online and she was shamed for her body. The former Disney Channel star, who has been teased before, stood up for herself and said, “I love my body.”
Not long after that, Hailey posted a TikTok video of her and her friends Kendall Jenner and Justine Skye miming to the popular song “And I’m not saying she deserved it, but God’s timing is always right.”
Even though the video has been taken down, some fans thought it was a jab at Selena because of when it came out.
Hailey denied all of the accusations by writing under a fan video, “I never say anything about this kind of thing, but we were just having a girl’s night and did a random TikTok sound for fun, it’s not directed at anyone.”
Selena then said she was taking a break from social media, which made things even worse. This came right after she defended Taylor Swift over a resurfaced post where Hailey seemed to criticise her.
The singer announced that she was leaving the internet in a TikTok Live video on February 23. This was right after she became the woman with the most followers on Instagram.
Selena’s announcement came soon after she replied to a video of Hailey and Method Man, who used to co-host the show Drop The Mic. It’s not clear what led Selena to make this decision.
In the clip, Method Man made fun of Swift’s songs and teased a “rap battle with the meanest lyrics about a celebrity since Taylor Swift’s last album.”
When Method Man talked about the “Shake It Off” singer, Hailey stuck out her tongue and put her finger in her throat to make herself look like she was going to throw up. After the clip was posted online, Gomez defended Swift by saying, “I’m sorry, but my best friend is and always has been one of the best in the game.”
Social Blade says that Hailey’s number of followers has dropped by almost a million because of all this nonsense. Hailey had 50,667,001 followers as of Wednesday, February 22. As of Thursday, March 2, 2023, 11 days later, she has 49,823,793 (49.7 million) followers. On Monday, she lost more than 200,000 fans in just one day.
Jenner was once the most followed woman on Instagram, but in January, her number of followers went down from 380 million to 379 million. She has 380 million followers again as of today, but Selena keeps going up and now has 395 million followers. When she started posting on her own Instagram again in January, she had 382 million followers. Gomez had a job as an assistant for her for four years.
In comments on a recent makeup tutorial that have since been deleted, Gomez asked her fans to be nicer to each other and “think about others’ mental health.”
She wrote, “Thank you so much, and I love you all so much.” “I’m very thankful for every single one of you people. You make me unbelievably happy.”
“My heart has been heavy, and all I want for everyone is good,” she said next. “All my love.”
Even though Gomez doesn’t say outright that she wants her fans to be nicer to Bieber and Jenner, the comments come at a time when there has been a lot of talk about the drama between the three women.
