What is Likely to Happen in Ginny and Georgia Season 2?
After learning about her mother’s criminal past, the first season concluded with Ginny and Austin making their escape from their hometown.
The following is an official summary that was published by Netflix in December 2022 for the subsequent season:
“How do you live with the knowledge that your mother is a murderer? That’s what Ginny is going to have to figure out. Burdened with the new understanding that Kenny — her stepdad — didn’t die of natural causes, now Ginny must deal with the fact that Georgia not only killed, she killed to protect Ginny. Georgia on the other hand would much prefer that the past be left in the past, after all, she’s got a wedding to plan! But the funny thing about Georgia’s past is that it never stays buried for long.”
What Happened at the End of Season 1?
Season one of Ginny & Georgia ends on a cliffhanger, setting up a lot of storylines for season two. The cast performs an excellent role in the last season. And what a fantastic conclusion it is! Ginny learns to her horror that her “fun-loving” mother actually murdered her ex-husband Kenny. Looking back, Ginny realises that Georgia probably got rid of Kenny because he sexually assaulted her while pretending to fix her posture. A million previous secrets have preceded this one, so it’s reasonable why Ginny would be frustrated by her mother’s latest fabrication.
Even more upsetting for Austin and Ginny is the revelation that their mother never sent any of Austin’s letters to his father. Out of spite for Georgia, Ginny and Austin send off the correspondence she ignored. When Georgia finds out, she is astonished and quite terrified, demanding to know whether they put their home address on the letters, signalling the prospect of danger to the family. This may be the perfect setup for Season 2 of Ginny & Georgia.
After Ginny and Austin have had it with Georgia, they plan to flee the state by stealing a motorcycle from Marcus. As Ginny and Austin race, Georgia is attending a party in honour of her husband Paul’s re-election as mayor of Wellsbury, where she will now serve as first lady.
Smug Georgia approaches Investigator Cordova at the party and tells him that he is lost. Cordova believed he could prove Georgia’s guilt by obtaining an autopsy of Kenny’s remains. In secret, though, Georgia had the body exhumed and burned. She then subtly suggests that the fireworks being launched at the wedding are actually Kenny’s ashes in disguise.
However, Georgia should probably hold off on the party because Cordova is now in the lead. Before she married Kenny, Georgia was married to a dishonest hotel owner for whom she ran a gambling ring. After losing custody of Ginny because of her armed robbery, she married him while Ginny was a toddler.
Georgia guarantees never a dull moment. In a flashback, we see Georgia putting drugs she crushed into his drink and watching as he blacks out right in front of her. The news that Cordova is a “lost person” reaches him.
After such an emotional season of Ginny & Georgia, viewers are left with many unanswered questions concerning the future of their favourite dysfunctional mother-daughter duo. Is there any chance that Cordova will uncover enough evidence to put Georgia behind bars? Ginny and Austin seem to have disappeared. The good news is that Season 2 is rapidly approaching, so we won’t have to wait long to find out!
