The upcoming limited series From Scratch is another example of how Netflix is establishing itself as the leading narrator of narratives based on the real-life experiences of actual people. Tembi Locke's best-selling memoir From Scratch, starring Zoe Saldana and premiering on Netflix in October 2022, will chronicle the narrative of a woman who experiences love, the death of a loved one, grief, and hope over the course of the series.
Attica Locke (Empire, When They See Us), the sister of Locke, will serve as showrunner and executive producer alongside Zoe Saldana and her sisters Cisely Saldana and Mariel Saldana. Reese Witherspoon, an actress, and producer, is also producing through her Hello Sunshine production company.
