Tembi Locke's best-selling memoir From Scratch, starring Zoe Saldana and premiering on Netflix in October 2022, will chronicle the narrative of a woman who experiences love, the death of a loved one, grief, and hope over the course of the series.
Attica Locke (Empire, When They See Us), the sister of Locke, will serve as showrunner and executive producer alongside Zoe Saldana and her sisters Cisely Saldana and Mariel Saldana. Reese Witherspoon, an actress, and producer, is also producing through her Hello Sunshine production company.

When will From Scratch be released?
Netflix has announced that they will be airing “From Scratch,” a new autobiographical romantic drama depicting the narrative of an American woman's unending love. According to Netflix, the show is scheduled to be published by Simon & Schuster on April 30, 2021, and was chosen as the Reese's Book Club x Hello Sunshine May 2019 book selection. On Friday, October 21, 2022, at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET, the romantic drama series will premiere on Netflix.

Based on the New York Times best-selling memoir, From Scratch is the story of an African-American lady who falls in love with a Sicilian chef while studying abroad in Florence and goes on to make a life with him in Los Angeles, therefore fusing two contrasting cultures. Amy becomes her husband's caretaker and the person responsible for bringing their two very different families together, so creating a new, blended family for her and her daughter after he passes away. There are eight overall episodes in the series.
