There’s a new horror film coming out soon called Frank & Penelope, and if the trailers are to be believed, it will combine elements of several other horror stories to create an intriguing and terrifying experience. On an isolated stretch of road, a wild pair decides to rest at a motel for the night. This may be a bad choice, as we all know. However, in this remote place, they will find much more than simply an unsettling circumstance…
Many movie allusions are made in the trailer for Frank and Penelope, which may pique your interest. The obvious Bonnie and Clyde feel of two people living dangerously on the fringes of society while traveling across America, while also having a difficult and probably abusive and codependent relationship, is one of the most obvious of these allusions. They’re then stopped by a sheriff who, in an unsubtle manner, warns them against stopping for too long along a particular stretch of road.
What Is the Plot of the Story?
In the middle of a barren stretch of dirt road, Frank and Penelope, his stripper girlfriend, find themselves miles from civilization. Toward the end of the day, they come across a tiny motel with a restaurant and decide to stay the night. After robbing the diner, they wake up the next morning in the middle of a terrifying nightmare. Frank and Penelope are taken on a life-or-death voyage by Chisos, the owner of the hotel and cafe, and his cruel family, who is a crazy cannibalistic Bible thumper. This is not the first time somebody has gone through something like this. These two, on the other hand, will go out together, whether they like it or not.
While there are some similarities to The Hills Have Eyes in the sunny and dry setting with frightening people lurking around every corner, Midsommar-style religious zealots’ horror stories are right at home here as well. Additionally, there’s some Wolf Creek and a bit of Paranormal Activity, with people running for their life while being hunted. So there’s something for everyone here, as well as a substantial serving of horror movie clichés for die-hard fans.
