Firefly Lane Season 2 Release Date, Cast and Plot
Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke return for the sequel
The show is based on the novel of the same name by Kristin Hannah. She also serves as the executive producer of the show. Hannah’s previous works The Nightingale and The Great Alone are being adapted for the big screen by TriStar Pictures. Famed Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul director and producer Michelle MacLaren is heading The Nightingale project.

Firefly Lane Season 2 Release Date
Season 1 of the show premiered on February 3, 2021. Three months after that Netflix announced through its social media channels that Firefly Lane has been renewed for a second season.
According to whats-on-netflix, Netflix takes its time with drama series but not more than a year after the announcement. I presume that Firefly Lane season 2 will be around the spring of 2023.

Firefly Lane Season 2 Cast
- Katherine Heigl as Tully Hart, a famous host of a daytime talk show known as The Girlfriend Hour. She is an American actress, producer, and former fashion model. She is best known for the ABC television drama Grey’s Anatomy for playing the role of Dr. Izzie Stevens. She starred in commercially successful romantic comedy films such as Knocked Up, 27 Dresses, The Ugly Truth, Killers, Life As We Know It, and New Year’s Eve.
- Sarah Chalke as Kate Mularkey, Tully’s best friend since they were 14 years old and a housewife who is trying to get back in the workforce while going through a divorce.
- Ben Lawson as Johnny Ryan, Kate’s husband and the producer of The Girlfriend Hour
- Beau Garrett as Cloud, Tully’s free-spirited drug-addicted single mother
On September 21,lat year, Netflix announced the addition of four new characters, played by some of our favorite actors around. They are, per a press release:
“India de Beaufort as Charlotte: As we meet Charlotte in 1985 Seattle, she’s a quiet and reserved aspiring journalist with a hopeless crush on Johnny Ryan (Ben Lawson). But over the years she grows into a world-renowned, confident, and sophisticated reporter—a woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go after it.
“Greg Germann as Benedict Binswanger: The scion of an influential logging family, Benedict parlays his success in business into a run for governor of Washington State in the 1980s. His outward confidence belies a deep concern for both his own and his family’s reputations—and he is determined to preserve the Binswanger legacy by making sure a long-held secret stays buried.
“Jolene Purdy as Justine Jordan: Justine is a sunny, upbeat talent agent with a knack for keeping a positive demeanor even when delivering devastating news. She’s always got a plan and is ready to execute it. An up-and-coming power player in the world of entertainment. Justine Jordan is no-nonsense but always charming, the kind of person everyone wants in their corner—including Tully Hart.
“Ignacio Serricchio as Danny Diaz: Danny is a cocky sportscaster turned reporter who has crackling chemistry with Tully. He’s brash, ambitious, and sexy. Danny and Tully continually trade barbs, but beneath his smug façade lies real vulnerability and passion.”
Firefly Lane Season 2 Plot
Since the drama is based on a novel it has te raw material to keeping guiding.
Firefly Lane season1 ended on multiple cliffhangers. Bud is dead. Tully resigned from her job. Johnny is injured.
The drama is based on a novel of the same name by Kristin Hannah, which does have a sequel to keep guiding the plot.
Theses loose ends will be tied in season 2 and the show will move forward with a new core story.
Speaking in the announcement video, Sarah said, “We can say that it’s family related and has nothing to do with Johnny.”
