The highly-anticipated historical comedy directed by Rohit Shetty and titled “Cirkus” was finally shown in theatres on December 23, 2022, after the release date had been pushed back twice. The film received mostly bad reviews from reviewers upon its release, and it did poorly financially at the box office.
It features prominent actors like as Ranveer Singh, Varun Sharma, Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Sanjay Mishra in major parts. Cirkus is Rohit Shetty’s second full-fledged collaboration with Ranveer, following their work together in Simmba.

The soundtrack for the movie was composed by a number of different music directors, including Devi Sri Prasad, Badshah, Lijo George, and DJ Chetas, among others.
What is the Storyline of Cirkus Movie?
While researching the nature vs. nurture debate in 1944, Dr. Roy Jamnadas found a set of identical twins abandoned at his orphanage. He adopted out both sets of children to families in different cities. A couple in Ooty and another in Bangalore get the twins, and both families travel with them and share the same middle names, Roy and Joy.
Their father owns a circus, and when he dies, Roy and Joy are left with the task of running it. The second Roy and second Joy come from a very wealthy industrialist family. Electrical currents have no effect on Roy, who seems to share some sort of odd bond with electricity.
After that time skip of 30 years, the plot resumes. Roy is opposed to Mala adopting a kid from the Jamnadas Orphanage, even though Mala is unable to have biological children of her own. Even though Roy is madly in love with Bindu, she has to deal with her father’s scepticism because he saw Roy with Mala in Ooty and assumed it was Roy, leading him to believe that Roywas cheating on his daughter.
When Roy and his companions run into Mala, they mistake her for the gang’s leader because he believes they are all members of a massive criminal gang out to rob them. The situation gets more complicated when Roy intends to give Mala a diamond necklace as a gift but the jeweller ends up giving it to Roy.
After some time, five orphan boys named Gopal, Lakshman1, Lakshman 2, Lucky, and Lucky arrive at the orphanage, alluding to the events before Golmaal Again. The film was panned for having a weak screenplay and an unsteady plot.

Based on 11 reviews, the average rating for Cirkus is 3.40/10 on Rotten Tomatoes. Film Companion’s Anupama Chopra said: “Cirkus is a mess. The writers did not do any work to differentiate Singh’s and Sharma’s double-role characters.”
“Cirkus suffers from poor writing and forced humour, and appeals only in bits and pieces”, It have forced humour and sets was bad. said Bollywood Hungama, giving the film a 2/5.
The critic from NDTV said that, “Cirkus have same drawback as other Bollywood films have nowadays, its seems that it have no respect for audience, Cirkus is abysmally bad film, it may remind audience Awara (1951) of Raj Kapoor’, referring to its upbringing theme similar Awara.

Ranveer Singh’s both roles are insipid, this film’s comic gags are pathetically unfunny, pointing on technical aspects he wrote that, its gaudy colour pallets made to appear film’s real background like painted one.”
Anna M. M. Vetticad of Firstpost called the film boring and uninspired ” “There’s only so far that an actor’s innate talent, nostalgia and kitschy images can take a film. Soon enough, Cirkus blurs the line between imitation and tribute, until the fun completely ceases.”
She gave the film a 1.75/5 and wrote, towards Shetty’s continued use of the Tamil language, stating “Ironically, Rohit Shetty’s much-lambasted comedies give us more authenticity in the use of language in southern Indian settings than most commercial Hindi cinema bothers with.”
