Bridgerton Just Verified the Seductive Romance of Season 4
Bridgerton’s third season was another huge smash for Netflix, and viewers were left wondering who will be the main character in the fourth season. No need to wait any longer—the streamer has revealed that the upcoming season will center on Luke Thompson’s character Benedict Bridgerton from the television series.
It’s time for the second Bridgerton son to get his day in the spotlight, in what looks to be another sultry installment of the critically praised series, after examining Daphne and Simon in Season 1, Anthony and Kate in Season 2, and Penelope and Colin in Season 3.
According to The Wrap, Benedict will be the focus of Bridgerton’s fourth season as he defies convention and pursues his own sexual exploration rather than settling down. Is it possible to tame this wild horse? Perhaps, as hinted at in the official synopsis, Benedict will have an accidental encounter with someone who might be able to control his wild side. Look it over below.
“Bohemian second son Benedict (Luke Thompson) is the subject of attention in the fourth season of Bridgerton. Benedict is reluctant to settle down, even though both his older and younger brothers are contentedly married. That is, until he attends his mother’s masquerade ball and encounters the alluring Lady in Silver.”
Bridgerton May Face Criticism if It Keeps Straying From the Original Books
Viewers will observe that Season 3 of Bridgerton included a stunning threesome involving Benedict, Lady Tilley Arnold, and her lover, Paul Suarez. This could suggest a potential departure from Julia Quinn’s books in one of the major storylines. In the novels, Benedict ultimately marries Sophie, but according to showrunner Jess Brownell’s comments to The Wrap, this may not happen in the series.
“The introduction of Sophie is certainly still possible, but we will continue to explore his fluidity.”
In the third season of Bridgerton, Lady Tilley proposed a monogamous relationship to Benedict, but the horse rejected her offer because he still doesn’t know who he is, what kind of person he is, or where he wants to go in life. Brownell promises that viewers will undoubtedly see more study of this common issue in the upcoming season.
“That plot line is not over yet. Whether or whether you choose to identify as a man, woman, or nonbinary person, fluidity is an inherent aspect of who you are, as anyone who identifies as fluid knows.”
Would Benedict Bridgerton end up dating someone else as a result of this? A same-sex pairing could be a major plot point moving ahead, as the series does diverge greatly from Quinn’s novels in many ways. If that’s the case, some audience members who are stuck in the Stone Age might take offense to Bridgerton.
Just consider what transpired when Bill and Frank’s relationship was the subject of a single episode of the HBO series The Last of Us. The sensitive snowflakes who vowed never to watch the show again apparently melted when they saw two men in love with each other. It’s their loss, isn’t it?
Fortunately, Bridgerton’s audience appears to be more accepting of sexuality, so despite the loud criticism from a vocal minority who will probably approach the show with pitchforks, it will surely continue to be a smash for Netflix.
The release date for Bridgerton’s fourth season has not yet been announced, but we’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
